It seems like when I check Philippine Airline's website for Cebu to LAX, SFO or LAS that they are charging an arm and a leg (approx 1,000 dollars) for a one way flight. That's ridiculous considering I can manage to fly from Omaha to Cebu and back for 300 dollars more then that.

Where is the best place to look for one way flights from Cebu to the USA? She needs to be able to fly into Omaha as well.

One way tickets are generally much more than half a round trip fare. So that quote isn't out of the ordinary.

Has your fiancee checked with local travel agencies there about fares to the US?

I noticed similiar. Flights from MNL>>LAX are about $1060 online with PAL. RT or Oneway is currently about the same price, with the tax cut in half on the Oneway, yet the price comes out to about the same. I do think it is wise to check with a local travel agent, and tip her well to find the best price.

Key in your search at http://www.cheapoair.com/

Check our their Wednesday flights like on January 27, CEB-LAX.

Hakuna matata.

God bless us all.

Intra-Phils flights are incredibly cheap. Make sure you check Manila flights to find the best price. You can probably fly her Cebu to Manila for under $40, possibly saving 2-300 doing so.

I've had the cheapest finds at bt-store.com or onetravel.com.

I'm having Vicky shop for a ticket locally too though once her visa is in her hand.

I have been pricing flights as well.

I agree to Book a separate flight cebu to manila on PAL then book a different airline from Manila.

NWA and continental are a little cheaper, NWA goes thru Tokyo. Continental is the cheapest, however, layover in guam, layover in hono - I believe the entire trip from manila to west coast us on continental is over 20 hours - we will avoid this.

Always best to hit the 'Update' button on your anti-virus and malware protection before doing any international surfing.

I am in Sioux City,,,

Try www.sidestep.com or www.bing.com...

I usually use sidestep and do,, plus or minus 3 days. jan 20th is $830 for Continental Airlines MNL-OMA (That is what we used).

Guam and Hawaii are good points of entry. Low volume. With Continental it seems you can get short notice tickets for about

the same price. And you can book online from here.

Note: Do NOT use a Filipino travel agency unless you can pay with a credit card. Too many scammers out there. If possible book

directly with the airline.

Note: The advise about flying from Cebu to Manila is good advice, Most airlines do not have routes that include Cebu. Again,

let her book the ticket locally with PAL or Cebu Pacific, Should be less then $50. We flew from Dipolog via PAL for about $45.

i have always used www.bookingbuddy.com to compare prices. be sure to stay away from purchasing tickets that do not show you the flight times. You may find yourself having to run through the airport to catch next flights. give yourself and your loved one plenty of time without stressing over potentially missing their next flight. give yourself a little more time between flights if you are changing carriers and/or going from a domestic flight to international or vice versa. going through customs and having to recheck your bags for domestic flights can cause some longer delays.

Guys, the virus on http://www.santraphael.com/home.php nearly destroyed my computer. I opened the page up last night, my computer totally locked up and some ridiculous anti-virus spyware blocked me from doing anything and made my operating system fail. Luckily I have a restoration software on my computer to restore it back to the way it was. I'm fortunate to not have lost all my files because of it. What gives?

Kala, you bring out an important point. What may look like a really good deal on paper, and maybe will save 10% on the price of an alternative but direct flight, may not turn out to be such a bargain after all.

The direct PAL flight from MNL to LAX is approximately 12.5 hrs (thanks to the tailwinds). I gladly pay a little more to get my girl on and off the plane and into my powerful arms a bit faster. It is a personal choice. I want it convenient and easy for her with no layovers, as it is her first int'l flight. I hope you get the flight and fare you are both happy with.
