However, I think no matter how much one prepares, one prolly can never be ready for motherhood. At least what the woman who does my hair tells me :P So for the mums and mums-to-be out there, do you feel that's true?

That's very true in my case. Hubby can attest to my many mental breakdowns for being parental failure (I'm wasn't even pregnant yet, LOL). I'm too much of a worrywart.

I can vouch that it is absolutely true. Once that little body emerges into the world, life as you know it ends. They are completely.... and I mean completely..... dependent on you for everything. Your life is no longer yours.... it is theirs. Sick and want to lie down? Too bad. Want to go visiting? Major planning and lugging of supplies.... don't forget to time it between naps! Need a break?..... need to invest time and money into finding a responsible person you feel comfortable with, then write a procedure manual and train them.

I completely agree Krikit! When the hubby and I talk about kids, he will always say, "that baby never wanted to be born yet we're forcing him/her to this world, so I dont want us to have kids until we can be as ready as we can be". Of course, as already mentioned, one will never really be ready...

And I agree with what Sprailenes said -- if you dont want to have kids or cant see yourself having kids, you shouldnt have one... even as a "concession". Not every female person is meant to be a mother and it is a lifetime responsibility to have one. I know because Im 25 and I still run to my mom for problems :P

Reven: All mums and mums-to-be are prolly like that! So dont be too hard on yourself!

As for leaving a child behind... I think its fairly possible for someone to do that especially when youre so frazzled with work and not sleeping and having to do all these things. I guess one of my biggest future concerns is leaving a baby in the car... *shudder* Cause you know, it can always happen.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I lost my son in walmart once in Barrie - they called a code Adam and locked down the store until I found him. He was hiding in one of the racks. I nearly had a nervous breakdown, I picked him up and put him over my shoulder and walked out of the store in tears, he was having a fit. EVERYONE was staring at me and it was silent, minus Ethan throwing a fit and screaming bloody murder. I finally stopped at the front of the store before leaving and screamed: "WHAT? DO YOU THINK YOU'RE ALL MOTHER OF THE YEAR!? WELL YOU'RE NOT!" and a few other choice words.

My mom was with me and she grabbed Ethan and me and dragged us out.

I guess my emotions got the best of me but I was really mad. About a year later I was talking with this girl at work who told me the story of a mother in Barrie at Walmart going apeshit on everyone after she lost her kid. I was like: "Ya... hi that was me."

:ot: I would just like to say that it is awesome that you all have a Canadian Baby Corner now, but honest to God, those of us in the OT Baby Corner would love to have you all participate. We don't bite and welcome everyone who is newly pregnant, newly mommy, wanting to be a mommy, lost a baby, it doesn't matter what you're situation is we're there. Those of us that joined the Baby Corner just announced that we were preggo and boom we were a member. Even Revenesque we seemed to have welcomed you with open arms - and now you're over here. Did we do you wrong??? Just kidding.

I have a feeling the only reason why the Filipina girls have a baby forum is because most of them speak Tagalog, so it might be easier to have questions answered, whereas you all being from Canada speak English, unless you're from Quebec.

So, on that note, not that I'm trying to discourage your group, but all of y'all are knocked up - you're going to need advice or want to give advice, why not do it on the OT Baby Corner? Keep the Baby Corner going. You're only 9 pages into this little thread, whereas OT Baby Corner is 340+ pages - that's not a bad thing...you don't have to go back and read everything, just post your questions or comments and we'll all be around to post back. Furthermore, the BC is awesome because you can search past posts - truly handy!

You are free to say "F You, Staashi - we don't want your stinking forum!!" - that's cool and your hormones allow it ;) , but honestly, we've seen our participation die down because the Regional Forums are creating their little threads. :(

I speak for the BC ladies, we hope to see you there. May you all have the most uneventful pregnancies ever! :D

I've been there a couple of times, but most there have had their babies and I am not yet at that point. Anyway, I like our little group. I feel comfortable here! I'll still go there occasionally if I ask a question and I don't like your answers here. :P

Yes, but that's what makes it nice - a little bit of recent experience. But as I said, it is ok to say, "F You, Staashi", I understand.:star:

ValeriaA...

You just gave me hope! I'm 39 and would like to get pregnant so, hearing someone my age taking the plunge too makes me a little excited. It's a little hard though when we're apart from our spouses.

I always felt that even if the timing was 'right' I'd get so nervous and excited about everything that I popped my egg out early!

Yeah... I'm a duffus...

Heeheehee. I thought it might take some time, too (I am 40, he is 44). Second ovulation - BAM. I took a test when I was 1 week late. The line went dark blue as soon as I laid the stick horizontal. There was no doubt whatsoever, not like the first time. I went in to hubby and said "We must be having a litter!" Funny. He wasn't so amused by that.

Oh Staashi, I didn't forget the OT Baby Corner! I lurk there regularly to see how I can contribute to the discussion but I'm with Valerie...I feel most of the gals are further along (discussing teething, eating solids, etc) in their baby journey than I am so I'm having a little difficulty relating, especially when I'm just trying to just get through the first trimester.

I'll do my best to pop in there regularly.
