Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well with your pregnancies and babies! Thanks for the updates too :)

Canadiandggal- You look great in those pregnancy hospital pics! Thanks for posting them here on VJ.

Lol..I wish I looked that good when I was pregnant in the hospital...(I looked a lot worse)

Likewise, I had no morning sickness either....So that was a surprise (and maybe a good thing too)

Lol..On the contrary, he induction was fairly easy for me....

But the delivery...well..that's when the problems happened.......And things didn't go smoothly there...

Oh well, that's over with now...As long as the baby is happy, healthy, and loved, then so be it...

I agree, "enjoy them when they are still young", as they sure do grow up quickly!

Lol..It only seemed like yesterday that I was still pregnant..

And now I have a 1yr old running around the house...

Mtlgato-Lol...It would make some sense to generalize that women who weighed less before would gain more weight during pregnancy, as more weight is needed for the baby in order to grow healthy and well

But rest assured, that the extra weight is probably baby weight...

And before one knows it, the pregnancy weight will come right off, and they will be back to their slender selves again...

As for my pregnancy weight gain..

I started out at 115-120 (which is average for my height)

I gained about 28 lbs total...

Which is not that much overall for pregnancy weight gain...

And the funniest thing about that was that 8 1/2 lbs of that was baby......

Oh well, it made for easy post-pregnancy weight lost afterwards....

Bern-Sorry to hear that your pregnancy had a rough start with the weight gain.

Don't worry, though as you and your baby will catch up in terms of weight gain..

Good luck too, in finding out your baby's gender..

My guess is still a girl....(am I right on this one?).....

Colleens-Good luck on your glucose test...

Lol..Yeah, the sweet liquid stuff tastes kind of gross at first, but after awhile, it's not that bad...

Hope your results indicate that everything is ok, as having high glucose levels during pregnancy is not good..

Sorry..I have no clue about maternity benefits..

But I hope that you and your baby have the proper healthcare that you both need, regardless..

Btw..Are you having the baby in Canada, or in the USA?...

Reven-What are you still doing here on VJ???

You should be in the hospital by now, giving birth to your daughter!

I understand how you feel here about your baby being late, as likewise, my son was late (a week) late....

I understand too, how you feel about having a September baby when your due date was in August..

As the same was with me, as my due date was in July, and if it was any later I would have had him in August (which I didn't want)...Luckily, I asked for an induction (after waiting a week past his due date)...And he made it out for July 30

Well..At this point Reven, I think you should ask for an induction too...

Basically during an induction, they "break your water" with a plastic-like stick (lol..) and then that is supposed to induce labour and then you can deliver the baby.....

With an induction..There is one advantage...You can actually schedule when your baby will be born (or at least when labour will begin...)...And yeah, a few hours after the induction...The baby will arrive!

At this point, since you are already a week late..

You only have one more week to make a decision about an induction date.

As the baby cannot be inside of you for more than 42 weeks (it's a risk to both mother and baby)..

So yes, talk to your dr asap regarding an induction....

And by next week, I guarantee, you'll see your daughter...:)

Hope this helps...

Hope to hear news about your new baby!

Everyone....Again, good luck to all of you for your pregnancies and babies! Happy pregnancies and happy babies to all!

Sort of an off-topic, but more so baby-related....

My son loves the new Tim Hortons' commercial on tv....

Have any of you seen this new commercial?

"Banana chocolate....." (lalalala....)....

Every time he sees the timbits bouncing up and down and hears the jingle/song, he just laughs and claps.....

This has happened on many occasions..So yeah...There's definitely something in the commercial...

Lol..Maybe that's the "Canadian" side of him showing itself at an early age...

Bern-Sorry to hear that your pregnancy had a rough start with the weight gain.

Good luck too, in finding out your baby's gender..

My guess is still a girl....(am I right on this one?).....

Hii :)

Turns out I actually gained 8 pounds while I was away in Canada, which is pretty cool. I'm happy to have gained the weight. I had my ultrasound the other day, the baby is VERY healthly and very active. You know how they say, 10 kicks in 2 hours? More like 20-30 in an hour when he really gets going. Oh, and I'm having a little boy. :) It's funny because the ultrasound guy wasn't even looking for the gender, but the baby moved so much it was like, ''here I am.'' He seemed proud to show off his junk hahaha. Also, while I was laying here, before I found out the guy said, ''did you want a boy?'' And I having a cynical sense of humour, though he would say, ''well too bad, you're having a girl.'' But nope, it's a boy. =D So he will be named Byron, and hopefully he chills out because he kicks like a horse. Also, they weren't able to get a full measurement because he moved so much, so I have to go in for another ultrasound at 28 weeks in which they will either change my due date to January 6th, or keep it at Dcember 23rd. :3

And that is my update for now =d

Bern-Thanks for the baby update...

It's great to hear too, that you're gaining weight..Which means that the baby is growing healthy!

Congrats on the ultrasound too....And finding out that you're having a baby boy "Bryon"...:)

(lol..guess I got that guess wrong...oh well....it was a 50/50 chance, really...)

Lol...About him moving around so much! Very active, indeed!

Btw..At what week did you start feeling him kick?

Hope he doesn't move around too much to the point that it makes you uncomfortable....

Lol..I remember my son used to do that...I couldn't get any sleep at night (as he would kick the most then)! And then during the day he would put his feet right in my ribs, especially when we were in the car....

And to this day...He's still active at 1 yr old.....running around the house and getting into all sorts of things....lol......(this is when the cabinet locks and closed doors come in handy...lol..)

Nevertheless, it's good that the baby is kicking and maybe that's an indication that he will be active after he is born..

Good luck with your next ultrasound....And hopefully next time around they can get a better measurement too..

Canadianddggal-

Lol...Kids are always laughing/clapping/giggling at things...That's what kids too, I guess...

It's amusing and entertaining to see such, nevertheless, especially at the oddest moments..

Glad to hear that your son is still active and is growing well too..:)

Time flies by indeed.....For you it probably seemed like yesterday that you were pregnant with him..and now he's 4..wow...

Lol about the ultrasound being wrong....And wow, after 3 ultrasounds....They still got that wrong....

Btw..Did you buy stuff when you found out that it was a girl? That would sure be an odd predicament to be in...If you bought all the girl stuff beforehand, and then it turned out to be a boy...lol...

Lol about the baby poking inside of you....They sure do move around a lot, and yes, they can do 'tricks'!.....

Yeah....It's kind of creepy to see those early ultrasound images (especially the 3D ones) of the 'alien'....

But yet it is also a wonder that eventually this 'alien' will become a human baby.....

Yes I bought all pink stuff, some white and even some blue. I had tons of little diaper shirts that said Grandma's Girl, daddys girl, Mommies little angel, I had made my brother paint a wonderful pink room with butterflies all over the wall. I had bought all the bedding, the car seat/stroller combo, I was ready and waiting for a girl. haha It was sure fun exchanging everything that was possible. Let me see if I can find a pic of the main man as a baby! :)

I hope that there are no surprises when it comes to gender of our little one. I have done some shopping, but my sister has been buying a TON of stuff for us, and it is all very girly. I have a huge duffle bag that is almost bursting to take home with me. We should be pretty well set for clothing!! She has been smart tho and bought a good variety of sizes, so we are pretty much set up until 18 months. That is one nice thing about living in the south....there is not as much change with the seasons, so you don't need big snowsuits and heavy winter stuff. We have our 3D/4D ultrasound on the 13th, so we should be able to confirm gender without a doubt on that one!!

Canadiandggal-Lol...About exchanging the pink stuff for the blue stuff. Did you have to pain over the room too (lol..I'm pretty sure that your son doesn't like a pink room). Yeah..It would be fun

That's a great pic of your son too..Thanks for posting and sharing that here on VJ..:)

Aww....He's so cute in that photo at 4 weeks old. And yes, he looks happy too.:)

Sigh..I wish I could have gotten a photo like that of my son at 4 weeks old..

(lol..we had to wait until when he was 6 months old...as his head was still funny-looking for awhile..)

I gotta love that outfit, starry blue sky, and stuffed bear in the photo too.

Btw..Which photo studio did you use for that photo? Just wondering..As I haven't seen that type of background around here....

Ant

P.S. Can I add your baby/son's info to the 'VJ Canadian Pregnancies and Babies' chart/list too? Thanks. Even though he's 4..He'll always be your baby!

Colleens-Don't worry, I think that the ultrasound was right in your case....It's more likely than not that you are having a girl..

You can always get another ultrasound, to double check, just in case..

Nevertheless, you'll be able to find out for sure on your 3-D ultrasound on the 13th, as those ultrasounds you can definitely see a lot more there!

Good luck with that ultrasound coming up....And yes, do post about that too.

Great too, that youd sister got you a ton of stuff, and you got some stuff on your own too...

You're probably set for the baby clothing for a girl!

Lucky you too, that you don't have to worry too much about weather in the south..As yeah..it gets pretty tricky to shop for stuff up here in the north, where it snows and there are constant weather changes....

Lol..That reminds me..I have to shop for some long-sleeved stuff, coats, hats, boots, etc. for my son.....

The stuff that we got last winter definitely doesn't fit him anymore....

Uggh...It seemed like I just started out with the summer stuff....

And I can't believe that now I have to buy winter stuff...Oh well...Hopefully he won't outgrow all that winter stuff too quickly this year....

Ant

That's one thing I am worried about, is the gender changing on us but in the photo, I see balls and a #######...so I don't know how it would change xD

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=6537032&l=6fcc799930&id=514618823

If this isnt a boy then I dont know what is LOL

Bern-Don't worry, I think that the ultrasound was right in your case....It's more likely than not that you are having a boy..

You can always get another ultrasound (and maybe do a 3D/4D one too), to double check, just in case..

I couldn't see your facebook page (since I don't have facebook). But other VJer can give more insight into that. Thanks for posting the link anyways..

Lol..I figure it this way too..Once they see something there the first time around, more likely than not, they will see it there again...

Lol..I remember when I had my ultrasounds done for my son...They saw it in the 18 week ultrasound (aka the 'gender ultrasound')....Then subsequent ultrasounds it was still there....lol...

Though it was kind of funny...For some weird reason, I always knew from the beginning that it was going to be a boy...

Heck, I even told the ultrasound tech that, right before they did the ultrasound....

And yup, the ultrasound tech confirmed my guess...

To all you pregnant ladies-

Good luck with your pregnancies and babies! :)

Don't forget to stock up on diapers and baby wipes too! (Trust me, you're going to need them)...

Here are some other non-conventional, 'old wives tale', and fun ways to figure out your babies' gender (you can try these out for yourselves, and see if they work too....lol.....):

-Baby's heartrate. High vs. Low (I think this one was high over 170bpm is a girl and under 170bpm is a boy)

-Are you carrying high or low? (I think it was high for a boy and low for a girl...or was it the other way around?....)

-Is your baby active or not active? (boys are more active, so they say..)

-The wedding right test (If the wedding ring dangling on a string over the belly sways a certain way it is a boy, and the other way is a girl)

-Cravings (I think this one was if you crave sweet foods its a girl and not salty/sour foods is a boy)

-The gender prediction kit/test (yes, they actually sell these...lol....though I never had one)

-The chinese gender prediction chart (something about the age of the mother and the month of conception....equals to which gender the baby will be, as indicated on the chart...)

-Ovulation dates and Conception dates (this is more scientific based...and requires preciseness there...)

-Ultrasounds (lol...this is the 'conventional' way of finding out the baby's gender....very accurate here!)

-Intuition..(That's the prediction I used...And it worked in my case....lol....)

-etc...

And yeah, if any of you try any of these, or any other ways/methods, feel free to post about the results too...

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Regardless of what your baby's gender is...The important thing is that they are happy, healthy, and loved...:)

Happy pregnancies and babies everyone!

((ANT))

Yes, I had to make my brother paint the Dylans room yet again, this time a light blue which was what I shoulod have done in the first place lol But it did teach me for the next one to go with neutrul colours. (which we hope to make one day soon :) just taking some time :( ) Yeah I remember being in the hospital and the "photo" nurse came around and asked if we wanted pictures of him. (first off they were way too expensive and second of all He had high jaundice levels) So we waited till he was 4 weeks old, we took him to Sears with his Favorite teddy bear at the time. They were nice pictures, although I wish I had taken more.Time flys by too quickly! I have a picture of him at 6 months old when he was at his "roundest" he was a porkster, I will add it just so youll can see the change! we once took a picture of him sitting in a tire as he was our little michelin man. haha wish I could find it
