I just saw a recall on strollers and cribs on TV this morning. Some Graco stroller models have snapped off baby's fingers. :o:crying: Can't remember the name of the crib that breaks apart and kills babies. Anyway, my point is, you'll want to research the brand and model of each item for recalls.

Jeez. Problem is, by the time it hits the news as a problem, people have already bought them. I wonder if more expensive brands have less recalls? Kinda stands to reason, doesn't it?

Yes, that is a problem - I heard about the strollers weeks ago. It's the same with food - "If you bought this ground beef or luncheon meat 3 months ago"

I always read your name as Val-AIR-ee-ah, Valerie. LOL

That's my thinking, Valerie. When they were showing the items I was thinking how shabbily made they were. Better built, greater safety. But, of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.

It takes a little longer to get through the US paperwork. lol

I have to tell my mom soon that I am pregnant. It's been hard enough, trying to explain the visa process, and all the ifs, ands, and buts that go along with it, and now I have to throw another wrench into the works to further confuse her (and everybody). Sigh. Just wait if I have to tell her I am moving back in with her and Dad this summer until I have the baby :help:

It is a Saskatchewan Roughriders outfit

Hubby has health insurance, but for some reason they don't have me on it. Trying to get that straightened out, but guessing that won't happen before my dr's appointment. Anyway, am already pregnant, so have a 'pre-existing' condition and no private insurance will cover me for that now.

I keep forgetting about the friends thing on here! Thanks for the add!

ValA-Either way, it's a great outfit! Gotta love the green! (and yes, green is gender neutral too). Lol..Sorry that I didn't know what it was before, as...umm...I'm not a CFL fan. I thought it was some personalized mongram or something at first, and thought.."hey, Val is going to name her baby with an 'S' name...." I guess not then...lol...Likewise, my husband bought my son a Buffalo Bills NFL onesie set too...(and my son wore it for my oath ceremony too...lol..)...So yeah, I can understand the football thing around here too....Sigh....I guess I should have been expecting that from the "boys"...football, football, and more football.....

As for the health insurance thing....Hope you get that straightened out. It seems wrong that they deem pregnancy as a "pre-existing" condition. What the heck is that..lol....? In the meantime, maybe you can ask for a reduced rate or some kind of a discount from the doctor? Sliding scale, for example? Pay what you can? Pay in installments? Yeah I know what you mean too about going broke with healthcare costs and the USCIS....not good....

By the way, are you currently in the USA or in Canada? If in Canada, you might be better off there than here in the USA, cost-wise.....

Hope you get that sorted out soon too, especialy for your baby's sake!

No problem about the add..Thanks for adding me on your list too.

Krikit-I agree, one definitely has to look out for recalls and safety and health concerns when buying products for children/babies! On the bright side, at least having some recall is better than having none at all....To Everyone-Do your research! Shop wisely!

Everyone-By the way, on an off-topic somewhat....I'm going to have to buy my son a highchair soon. As well, my son is teething like crazy, and is constantly in pain. Oh and boy does it hurt when I nurse him...ouch!

Any tips, ideas, suggestions, etc. about those issues too? Thanks.

ValA-Don't worry, you'll tell your Mom in time. And when that time comes, I hope she is positive and caring for you too. One thing at a time, and rest assured, it will all come into place and work out for the best too...;)

Ant, I read on another baby forum from other mothers that you de-latch the baby (there a proper way to do it vs yanking out your nipple), tell him 'NO' and don't feed him for 20-30 mins. Apparently the baby will get the hint.

Ant, you don't recommend washing the baby in the kitchen sink?

Note to self, no Graco stollers...

Rev-Personally, I don't recommend washing the baby in the sink, for the following reason:

1) The sink is dirty (think: dirty dishes, food, peelings, etc.)

2) The baby is dirty (think: poop, pee, etc.)

3) The sink is not the safest place for the baby

4) The baby is going to outgrow the sink

Baby bathtubs are relatively easy to find, and don't cost too much (about $15-30 maybe...)

Plus they are safe, made of plastic, and some have toys and other features in them too.

Lol..The baby bathtub that I got for my son..He loves it and has been using it since he was a few weeks old....

Congrats too..that your boss is thrilled for the news..:)...Make sure too that your working conditions are safe for you and your baby too!

Everyone-As for the Graco strollers...You can read more about the recall here...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100120/us_nm/us_graco_1

Hope this helps too!

(phew, thank goodness these aren't the models of the one that I got for my son....but yeah..will check for more recalls too....hmm..)

Reven-Thanks for the reply..:) Lol...The thing is..he de-latches himself and somehow gets distracted and I have to stop anyways because of that....when I least expect it in the middle of a feeding....So yeah...that really hurts. I haven't tried the "no" thing..but that's a good idea! Hope he gets the hint....Poor kid...it probably hurts for him too..growing all those teeth..ouch! Hmm...maybe I should try other foods instead?

Everyone-By the way, how many of you are doing/did breastfeeding/nursing versus forumla feeding? And what swayed you to choose one over the other? When did you decide to give your baby solid foods? Did you have any problems doing such too? Do you have any questions/concerns about such too?

Darkchilde-Actually "sponge baths" work well too...:) I had to do something similar like that for my son during the first 2 weeks, as one isn't allowed to give a baby a full bath in a bathdub unless their cord fell off. Lol..On top of that, we were in the midst of moving, so we had stacks of boxes around the old house too..lol..So yeah, there are photos of my husband (I was still recovering from the delivery then and could barely even lift the baby) giving the baby a sponge bath on the changing table, and surrounded by boxes all over the place...It worked, I guess..Whatever...got the baby clean that way for 2 weeks..But yeah...I was glad when we finally moved and found the baby bathtub instead!

Reven, go ahead and wash the baby in the sink if you want to. Good grief. It's a great way to wash them. Just lay a towel down on the bottom of the sink first.

Ant.... time to wean the baby.

Oh. Someone posted on it this evening: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...c=238008&hl
