your babies all look so happy and adorable :)

Caihla is 13.58 lbs still, no growth in a week, and is now 25 inches long. and 5.5 mo old. she was 8lbs 2oz when born, i was hoping she would indeed double her birth weight, but she is still in the sub 5%.

Well, for some reason Chicago doctors refuse to give anything other than zantac here, even the specialists. All he did was change it to 3 times a day from 2, and tell me to start feeding her solids..when shes not even able to sit up yet and still has her tongue thrust reflex...even my pedi told me to start her on solids. #######...tellling me she will gain weight more if i give her solids as well. From what all the LC's tell me and the bf'ing forums, milk is all she needs til a year and its the easiest on her stomach. I do NOT want to start feeding her rice cereal etc..and no way in hell i'm feeding her those baby jars of blech with color and additives in them. no ty.

Cardiologist said her irregular heartbeats are still there. another checkup at 1 year. Bascially this is what she has had since she was born: http://pediatricheartspecialists.com/articles/detail/premature_atrial_contractions_pacs

My first therapy appointment is tonight, i'm kind of nervous. I have to leave Caihla with David in the waiting room, and she's going through a HUGE growth spurt eating every hour on the hour. this is the most intense growth spurt shes had yet. i'm freaking exhausted, and David does NOT do well with her when she has her fussy / whining, crying fits. I just hope shes ok til i'm done tonight.

Oh man Kimbear that is rough. She will be fine with her father, and the stress you are under he needs to get better with handling her. Sounds like you are wanting to skip purees and head to table food. I do that too, have you found a site or book for Baby led weaning? As for her reflux I hope she outgrows it soon, Alexis started feeling better around six months.

I can't remember if she was still throwing up but hopefully all this cluster feeding will bring her weight up for you. Is she on probiotics by chance that can help with the reflux, and chiropractors too. When I fiirst took Alexis to one she would only sleep 10-15mins tops then start screaming again, after and adjustment she slept 2 hours it was amazing.

Therapy session was ok, talked a bit about whats pissing me off , somet things more than others etc. some family history that was relevant etc. Therapist seems...overly nice. It was a bit weird, and i was nervous so had a tendancy to ramble on then forget what point i was trying to make.

When i was done i could not find David or Caihla, i was in for an hour, and i found him wandering the halls with her crying. She apparently had a really bad Gerd attack and puked all over the place on him and the bathroom floor. Looked like shed been crying for a while. He looked a tad exasperated. Imagine how I feel for an ENTIRE day of that? lol

I think her growth spurt is almost done. She is not eating every hour on the hour anymore. and does not seem starving. This last month was rough. Giving her the meds 3 times a day before meals, seems to not be going too well. 10 mins after i give them to her before i even feed her she spits up the medicine. The only flavour they can do is grape for it, and she has learned how to spit, and she gets a death grip hold on the syringe and now turns her head towards the bed. You'd think i was killing her when its medicine time. :( Spitting up actually seems to be more often now then it was. I'm just so fed up of everyone telling me to "deal with it" :(

Chiropractors are not covered by our insurance, David went to one when his back was killing him and he got a huge bill for the adjustment the guy did..it was a 15 min thing and cost us a few hundred bucks. :( Her 6 month appointment is soon, i'll ask about probiotics again, but i have a feeling they will just ask why she is not on solids yet.

maybe its just me but i remember doctors up north actually caring more and doing stuff themselves. here the peds ask you a few questions for like 5 minutes and have assistants etc do everything else.

Glad therapy was ok, it's a start. Overly nice ppl can be weird for sure.

Got to love it when the fathers get a taste of what we go through. Atm I'm trying to find a very suttle way to teach my husband that lesson too. He has it easy with my older kids always helping out with Alexis. One day when they are all working I'm going to take a nice long shower and leave him deal with both kids. He has no clue either.

With Caihla eating every hour it is probably her trying to sooth her throat/stomach breast milk is great for that. It sucks for mom though. Alexis did slowly start getting better at the six month mark, but our pedi told me that it can sometimes flare up more and they get more active. Thankfully it never did with Alexis. You don't need a prescription for probiotics you can ask the pharmacist what one is good to start with. I wish I could remember what one I used.

Sucks you can't take her to the Chiropractor ours really did wonders with Alexis.

I miss our old Pediatrician back home, and you're right they did everything. We never had some aid do the shots, and here I'm about ready to leave this pedi just because of her aid. It's like she has no clue on how to give a shot. I'm thinking about just going ahead and using a family doctor. I don't see the point with the Peds here.

Take care of yourself.

Lily has hated taking the Zantac ever since we started her on it. She used to throw it up a little after giving it, or she'd spit it out as I was giving it despite my best efforts. She's gotten much better the past few months. After I give it, she gets this whole body shudder you get from drinking something nasty. Like, ugh ugh ugh shuddderrrr, and makes a face, but now she swallows it gamely. No more crying like she used to each time. Although, I give it in two squirts so it's not too much at once and she has learned to firmly close her mouth to avoid the dropper the second time, haha. She's smart but I get it in there anyway! Hopefully for you Caihla gets better at taking the meds. Would make it a lot easier for you!

So my hubby is great at understanding how long the days and nights can be as a nursing mother to a new baby. He's very supportive and will help hold her while I do other things and whatnot (although he took a bit at first to figure out what to do). That being said, I have to take a test for my teacher certification and will be gone for about 3-4 hours and he is having his Mom come over for company. He did that when I took the first test a month ago or so too. He admitted it's coz he's worried about being alone with her for that long. Oh well, it lets Grandma come see her and gets him some help and I can't really fault him since he is supportive every day while I am here. He's just nervous I think coz I'm still nursing. But at least she takes a bottle now!!

As for the doctor thing, we have a family doctor instead of a pediatrician (the one my husband grew up with). We rarely see him - just the medical assistants and occasionally the nurse practitioner. At her 6 month checkup, we finally saw the doctor after the aids and he didn't believe her height and ended up retaking it himself and the aid had done the math incorrectly and said she was 2 inches taller than she was! He fixed it on the computer but it makes me wonder what else they have done wrong in the past. She was tall though - 95th percentile height, 50th percentile weight which makes her a little bit of a string bean hehe. Footed PJs are always too short before everything else.

I miss the way the doctors did things in Canada - I get that it's 'easy' for assistants to do the routine 'easy' stuff and the doctors to do the doctoring but to me it just seems better when the doctor sees their actual patient. And wouldn't it be cheaper than paying for assistants or am I wrong? Maybe not coz then he has more time to see patients and not do that stuff? Regardless I'm leery of the assistants!! Basic math shouldn't be that hard!

Kimbear I just realized something. You mentioned that the zantac is grape flavour, are they making it as a suspension. If so how much at a time are you getting, the suspensions lose some of their effectiveness so you only want to get small amounts made at a time. God I feel so bad for you two poor girl hurts so much and you are so helpless it's a terrible feeling.

VeeNdee, with our pedi the assistant screwed up the weight with Alexis by more then 2 pounds that is a huge drop in weight. I even told the pedi that what was on the scale and what the assistant wrote down were not the same numbers.

6 months has come and gone. Our little peanut just keeps getting bigger! Still having sleep issues but I guess she just wasn't born a sleeper. We keep trying different things though! For some reason she hates apples and bananas, but loves green beans. We'll see what other surprises are in store on our food odyssey :P Only tried a few things so far.

Ah, kimbear, sorry to hear the specialist wasn't that "special" in the way of helping.

On the pediatrician front, I think it is all about who you see. At the office, I go to, the female ped is great, the male ped is well not so great. The nurse gave the shots but she was quick and for most part my boys didn't cry. My babies have had a little bit of a cough and stuffy nose but all that can be done is "steam them" to help clear it up. That has gotten DH's goat - "We need to find a new ped who will give medicine to fix the babies." Um, they are too little for meds that would fix a stuffy nose. I think the babies have been bothered by the pollen like I am :( and I can't take anything because I am breast feeding. I just feel trapped breast feeding. I get my babies to sleep and I want to lay them down and do something - like dishes, laundry, or online work for money - and the babies just wake up. I am getting pretty decent sleep, by my Edward has been waking up screaming. It seems he gets so hungry after sleeping 5 or 6 hours that he panics. The screeches could wake the dead. My William has started to have a fear of other people. I can't just hand him off to someone else to get a break. He takes a look at their face and then starts to do his panicked cry. This momma needs a break from her babies for an hour or two each day.

My babysitter I hired so I can actually work for money online has had a sick daughter this week - fever and diarrhea - so she wasn't coming over. The back up babysitters have their drivers training test this week so they can't come and they are going on vacation next week. I need to start calling other people to come babysit because the crying incessantly lately - I think the babies have started to teeth - sucking on their hands and DROOLING.

Waiting for DH's naturalization interview date. Bummed that he has to renew his Canadian passport - hello $260 versus $110 for U.S. passport. Still can't believe I wrote the wrong year on the check for naturalization and that backed it up 2 weeks. Then in March it seemed lots of people applied for naturalization probably because they got their tax returns.

Well, the babies have woken up. At least I had 1.5 hours of silence after their first morning feeding. I was hoping for 3 hours so I could do some work, but I had to catch up on some other things and read what was going on with you ladies.

Hey everyone!

New to all this! A little background:
I'm 33 weeks pregnant, first baby, it's a BOY!!! Thank god! The day we were told we're having a boy, I was super happy!!!

Before I got pregnant I was a solid 155lbs, I was body building. Had some pretty amazing lifts. Stronger then some guys out there! (My husband is into (or should I say my future husband) bodybuilding as well; main reason how we met.) My last weigh in I was 185lbs which really depresses me because, I can see I've lost all my gains that I've worked years into getting but, I have to keep remembering it's for the baby!

My pregnancy was a little tough at the beginning. Once we found out, I decided to stop with the gym, I kind of had to force myself to stop going just because, I was so strong and it's not suggested to lift, it would just be best to stay away from the weights and even the cardio for the first little bit. At this time I was staying with my fiance, and we thought it was the best idea. Getting up in the morning was really hard by month two, and by month three, the smell of food; so repulsive, even eating, nothing tasted right! All I wanted to do was sleep. 2nd trimester things got easier! I was able to start eating again, I even started going back to the gym, doing some light cardio, watching my heart rate and lifting a little (Which kind of depressed me, I couldn't squat my normal 270lbs, no leg pressing 600lbs, can't do any back exercises).

Slowly hitting my 3rd trimester, I then had my interview date! March 27th, a day before my birthday so, no more gym while I'm in canada, trying to save, and it's a little expensive to join a gym for a short period of time. Not really one for walks either. If my dog was here, I wouldn't have an issue with that but, I don't like walking alone lol.

Now with being in my third trimester and only a few weeks away from my due date, the baby moves SO MUCH! The hardest part is sleeping! He always seems to want to workout when mommy wants to rest! Laying on my back is my best position but you can only do that for so long. He will not let me lay on my right side, which is the side I need to sleep on since I have a minor heart condition and laying on my left isn't suggested. But, I am forced to sleep on my left side which is starting to get really uncomfortable! Only a few more weeks and I bet it's only going to get worse!

I have a doctor's appointment here today, hopefully all is well. The little guy gets hiccups everyday for a few minutes. I had a 3D ultrasound done a few weeks back and everything looked fine, and it was nice seeing him as well, it's weird how you can already see whos features he's got already!

That's my pregnancy journey so far!

Question for the ladies that gave birth in US. Did you file for dual citizenship? If so, how was the process? Do you think it's worth it? I know I want to file for dual but, my husband isn't really for the idea...

VeeNDee very cute picture. Starting foods can be fun. Sorry you are still having sleep issues.

Lilac I can't imagine what it is like with twins. I always felt I had my hands full with mine. Making strange is tough at times, and just when you think they are over it it starts again.

Why did your husband need to renew his passport? I just use the US passport, too expensive for both.

My older 2 boys have their naturalization interview on the 29th. Hoping they pass the test.

Welcome GernanCanadian, Congrats on the boy! I also dealt with food tasting off. Nothing look good nothing tasted good or smelled good it was terrible. Sleeping was rough that we all can relate to.

Now technically our babies are born dual. You can apply for the certificate http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp I still need to get it done for my two born here in the US I've been slacking.
