If the nipple shield helps who cares!

Does his top and bottom lip curl out and can you see his tongue over his gums kinda like its cradling you? Since you are bringing him in have the doctor look for a lip tie also especially if you don't think his lips aren't curling out.

I get to start the lack of sleep bit soon myself, 36 weeks 3 days now I think. I hope to make it to March and pray for nicer weather.

finished product. I am not quite happy with it because of how they cropped the pictures. I picked true digital pics because they said they wouldn't crop them but they did anyways.. grrr..

DH has finally filed for naturalization! Now the wait begins again!

My oldest baby by 2 minutes slept for 11 hours the last two nights! Yippe! Granted my milk producing devices haven't gotten the message about the decreased night time need. Ouch! I used my pump for the first time this morning. Worked okay, but man keeping the little funnel things on the right place was a pain. Definitely not a hands free activity. Need to make myself a wrap that holds them in place so I can move a bit, maybe eat breakfast while I do the pumping. I would like to get a couple bottles frozen up so I could maybe go shopping in the evening and leave the babies with dad. He is freaked out about being left alone with the two of them when they are awake. I just have to shake my head, I am with them alone all day long while he is at work. He can handle an hour!

i wish my kid slept the night..she did for a week..and that was it. lol between growth spurts, cluster feeding and now sleep regression i dont know how much more i can go through. last night she slept for 4 hours..that the most in the last month!

it takes a while for your milk and the baby's need to regulate. took me about 3 months before engorgement etc stopped. Now i'm lucky if i can pump an oz out of one #######. :(

Re: the elastics with the breast pump: I didn't have to destroy my bra, I just looped the elastics around the strap of my nursing bra, and the bottom of the bra provides some extra support.

Just said goodbye to mom at the airport. She was here for 3 weeks, it's a bitter sweet day. I'll be glad to get in a routine finally, but I'm so sad she won't see him until the summer.

Right there with you Kimbear. I haven't had a 3 hour stretch yet this week. I'm slowly going insane! Although she finally let me put her down for a nap without holding her yesterday so my days have been much easier. I had 45 minutes to myself..it was amazing. I went nutso in the kitchen reorganizing and cleaning. As for the whole pumping, yeah I barely get an ounce out of one too. I basically gave up on pumping and I think if we ever need someone to watch her I may just use formula once for the ease of it. I don't think I could pump enough and have it stay good --aka she'd need 4 ounces, so that's 4 days of pumping..if not more ounces and more days. Meh...

my munchkin was so easy to put to bed the first few weeks. I would swaddle her and pop her paci in and she would fall asleep. But then she stopped taking the paci and it was so hard to get her to sleep. Every once in awhile I would try give her the paci but nope, she would spit it out. But then one magical day she started taking it again and since then she sleeps through the night. At least 9 to 10 hours. Every once in awhile she will wake up in the middle of the night but she usually goes back to sleep pretty quickly.

Our only sleeping issue is that she likes to go to bed late. usually around 10 or so.. My little night owl..

Well 38 weeks on monday. Lots of false/pre labour going on I'm hoping to make it to March, not sure why I just want a March baby. I think I've had enough of this heart burn to last a life time. Baby was head down for awhile now hope he stays that way.

Ontarkie, so close! So exciting! It's nice seeing all these older moms with babies, we are already discussing our possible second!

Baby still has not taken to the breast even when I have tried the nipple shield. I think his issue is opening wide enough. Even when he drinks from the bottle it always takes a bit to get him to open wide enough to get the nipple past his gums. I am also still not producing enough milk. I probably pump about half to two thirds of what he eats a day.

Thanks Jen, and Lilac all this false labour is no fun either.

Jen here is a link from a Pediatric dentist friend I don't know if it can help you or not but just in case http://www.drghaheri.com/blog/2014/2/20/a-babys-weight-gain-is-not-the-only-marker-of-successful-breastfeeding#nav

Not all doctors, or LC can identify tongue and lip ties and some just brush moms off. I'm probably more pushy then you care and I'm probably driving everyone nuts about it, but after a friend of mine went 4 months and the doctor telling her she was fine, then telling her her daughter was failing to thrive I learned so much.
