Exciting times ontarkie!

This Friday I go in for my 6 week post partum visit. That is if it isn't whiteout snow conditions or crazy negative degree wind chills.

My boys have started to smile and coo/talk. It is so cute. I wish the didn't cry so much when they get their diapers changed. I am just not willing to buy a wipes warmer if it is the "cold wipes" that frustrate them so much.

I remember having as Johnny Jump up thing that hung from a doorway. I think my boys would like something like that. I will have to see what I can find.

Hope the bad weather clears soon for you.

Cold wipes are a pain, you could always run them under hot water for a second ( not the whole pack just one at a time). I'm cheap that is what I did.

We have one of those, we got it for Alexis she like it a lot. But did not get much use out it, as she was a very stubborn baby and started crawling then was walking by 9 mos. We got it at BRU.

Oh, Marilyn, I wish my sons liked it, although they scream less when they have a full stomach then a change, so being hungry may fuel their fury. I usually change then feed them.

There is hope for you - Lily used to scream all the time when I changed her diaper the first month or so. Now it's her favourite time of day. One week it was like something switched and she suddenly saw it as fun. Maybe because she was older, could see me better and interact while getting changed. So maybe your boys will change their minds!

Wow, Marilyn, hard to believe she is 4 months already.

I am feeling pretty good now that I am 6 weeks postpartum. Took the babies to the doctor yesterday. William is 9 pounds 12 oz and Edward is 9 pounds 4 oz (he has really put on weight well gaining 3 pounds 2 oz since birth).

Took the boys to church today for the first time. There were not too many people at church because of the weather. The boys did very well. They didn't cry. My husband was so scared to take them out. I am glad the day went well. The boys are 6 weeks old and definitely more interactive - smiling and cooing. They are sleeping 5 or 6 hours at a time at night which is great. It will be interesting to see how much snow actually comes over the next few days. Some people are sure crazy about the snow.

Little RJ is finally here! Born at 39 weeks exactly on Jan. 29. 7 pounds 12 oz and 20.5" long. Unfortunately my C-section was quite traumatic and I've been quite exhausted after but my reward really has been the most amazing baby. Right now I'm trying to get him to BF for longer than 5 seconds and sometimes it's frustrating as I've been having some issues and been unable to BF while dealing with those so I'm having to supplement with formula. I did get him to feed "I think" for about 20 minutes last night which was quite wonderful. I think he is having some gas issues since he's only pooped once since being home (yesterday) and was up all night crying every few minutes and I could hear his gas all night. I switched to a different type of bottle this morning so maybe that's the issue too. I'm going to buy a single manual pump today while I wait for my electric to come in because maybe it's the formula (Daddy is lactose intolerant).

Anyway, I'm still in awe of my little miracle and even though everything was horribly traumatic, I have this amazing reward. I hope you can see the pic.

(BTW he got 10/10 on his Apgar score which the Dr. and nurses said they've never seen and also the bilirubin test was a zero (I think that's what the nurse said, which she said she's never seen either). He's my amazing little miracle!

Jens sorry to hear your c section was traumatic. You're right about your handsome little miracle. Love the picture.

Today I was using a couple infant to todoler rockers that vibrate. william loved it and fell asleep for probably 30 minutes today. They both need to nap but are fighting it.

Congrats Jen, he's adorable! So sorry for all your trauma, I have a friend who also experienced a very traumatic c-section. Please do not let anyone diminish your feelings. (Not saying anyone is but it does happen)

I don't know if you have any BF resources but I would encourage you to seek out a LC. Formula, can very well upset his tummy and it does tend to take a few days to get your milk to come in, some moms longer. You shouldn't have to supplement just yet,(barring medical need), get him to nurse at every peep he makes your milk will come in faster.

Congrats on the baby, hes adorable!

FYI dont stress about BFing during the first day or two. Baby has a bunch of stored food so its not going to hurt him if he isn't able to nurse. Formula at that age only expands the tiny marble sized tummy. If you have a lacation consulatant at the hospital ask them for some help and a pump. Usually they can do this for you.

you may want to try the side laying position or the cross cradle hold, its easier on you when you have a c-section. Also if dad is lactose intolerant baby may be as well and formula tends to be super gassy. Just keep offering the breast every hours or so if you can. During the first 2 days Caihla only ate 3 times total before nicu took her away.

Caihla did 10/10 also, usually 99% of babies don't get this due to the blue skin on hands and feet but Caihla was all pink!

and you probably got a lot of sun in the summer / fall and had your vitamins. Thus no bilirubin. I used to lift up my shirt and let the sun shine on it for a bit in the summer. it helped. if she had that it would have just complicated so much more everything i already was going through.

Kimbear that is very interesting about the jaundice. I've had 5 kids they all had some level of jaundice, but that is do to me being jaundice susceptible. They even have to watch me for it, something to do with my father having it as an adult long before I was born.
