Our 2 month appointment is coming up and my family has a bit of a history with shots. (I actually passed out from the Hep A/B booster shot when I was getting it for immigration -although didn't realize at the time I didn't need it for the visa- go figure). Lots of immune stuff with my mom, uncle and brother. But I know vaccines are important. We've been trying to figure out how to handle it. I was looking into a delayed vaccine schedule. Basically you get all the shots but you space them out more. Theoretically it's easier to handle and it's also easier to tell which one causes a reaction if you get one. Our doctor said he was okay with it if I gave him a schedule but I can't figure out which one to use or how to get a good one. Any ideas?

i love our pediatrician. He doesn't rush through the appointment and he explains things in terms we can understand.

So Emily was a little fussy for the rest of the day yesterday and her temp got up to 99.2. I gave her one does of Tylenol. she is back to her old self today. smile.png

she got her second Hep B shot, Rotavirus (oral), Tdap, Influenzae type b,Pneumococcal and polio shots..

Glad Emily is doing okay now. It's the worst when your little one is crying in pain. Also, cute picture. Emily makes a lot of fun poses!

Holy cow , they mix that many vaccines together? I had no idea. Reminds me, I need to get a pediatrician lined up.

We ended up using my husband's family doctor for our daughter. He actually used to be an OB/GYN before becoming a family doctor (I'm kind of wondering why he switched!). Seems good so far.

Almost 30 weeks along and things are going great so far. I'm praying I will not have to have a C-section or anything like that. I failed my 1 hr. glucose test so hoping I passed the 3 hr. I had to take one earlier around 11 weeks and I passed the 3 hr one then, so here's hoping. Insurance has all kicked in. We have wonderful benefits so I'm very happy about that. I'm still going to the local Pregnancy Aid Centre which is out of network but I only had a 100 dollar deductible for the whole year and now all my sonos are covered and everything (I get one every 4 weeks). We're also starting to get the spare room set up. It still all feels surreal, like I still can't believe there is going to be a baby coming out of me.

The bigger my tummy gets, it gets a little harder to adjust myself in bed and get out of the car, things like that but otherwise all is well! I cannot complain!

So glad your insurance kicked in. That has to take a lot of stress off your mind. It is so surreal I agree, and I say that with a 6 and a half week old baby sleeping on me! Can't believe she is here sometimes. I look at her and am amazed that she is our daughter. She's so cute and I love that she now smiles at us! Melts our hearts everytime with that big grin. I still haven't managed to get a picture of it, but one day!

Went to the doctor yesterday. Unremarkable. Babies are doing great. One of them is definitely sitting in my pelvis. The ultrasound tech had to really push and prod to get a picture of his head - ouch. Both babies are head down still. The ultrasound estimated their weights at 5 pounds 12 ounces each which is great for 36 weeks.

Last night I started getting some menstrual crampy feelings and my back and belly felt different than before. This morning it feels like someone is trying to shrink wrap my belly but those feelings are pretty random, last for a couple minutes and then go away. I am just hoping something will get started. But so far babies are still on the inside. I am chilling today though.

Hang in there lilac. Definitely sounds like the time is getting closer for you. Do you have any help lined up for when the twins arrive?

Babies still on the inside - 36 + 6 today. I really can't believe I made it this far with twins. Family is coming in tonight - so glad there is another house they can all sleep in so they come to my house to play games, visit, and eat, then they can go back to another house to sleep or just leave so I can sleep. I will be adding 8 people to my house for the next few days. My mom is going to be staying to help me from Thankgiving until th end of December when my sister with a little girl has foot surgery and won't be able to walk for 6 weeks. So I am hoping these babies don't wait until their due date (Dec. 19, 2013), that way I can get help at the early weeks when I will be most knocked out from taking care of twins and will need cooking and laundry done so I can breastfeed my babies and get the rest I need to recover.

Can I ask why you are worried about a c-section at this point? Good luck with the 3 hour test. I go for the 1hr on the 16th of Dec.

I don't know why, just having surgery worries me. I know that every mom has said it's no big deal but the thought makes me nervous.

Unfortunately I failed my 3 hr and now have GD :( I'm glad my diet is regulated but I'm predicting I'll have to do insulin because my sugar levels are still all over the place even though I've been following everything to a "T".

Ugh I'm sorry you fail the 3 hr test. I worry about that test so bad with my food allergies I will give the nutritionist a major stroke if I had to see one. Hopefully you can find a trick or two that I hear so many others doing to get it under control.

Yes surgery is a scary thought. I try not to think about that part because their is no way I'm doing it for kicks. They would have to be very certain it was needed, not just tell me I'm having a big baby or getting too close to my due date like so many other ppl I know. But I think my OB knows better to even talk about inductions with me. He never once brought it up with Alexis like so many women I know around here. They were shocked I didn't have a date set yet headbonk.gif

You dont have to do insulin, i didn't. they will tell you to go see a dietician who will tell you how many calories carbs you can have based on weeks pregnant, how much weight you've already gained etc. After a week or so your doc will look at your numbers and then decide on medication, and you can ask about Glyburide, its what i did, its a pill. Mostly my fasting numbers were borked and she gave me the lowest dosage of that pill and it worked wonders immediately.

not eating sugar, and staring at labels in the stores was annoying, basically the only thing your allowed to eat lots of is protein aka meat, and most veggies. it sucks but i did what i had to do for the baby.

I had a c-section and a days notice about it. The baby was over 8lbs, i'm only 5'4.i'm also turning 40 in a few days, i had GD, and at 39 weeks i still had not dilated and the baby still wasn't in my pelvis. ORiginally i was suposed to be induced, but he said i might end up taking 13 hours to go into labour, and safest bet for me was to have the c-section.

FYI i just got some of the bills today and almost had a heart attack..so many bills for so many different people and everything. still waiting for the NICU bills...no wonder people i know declared bankruptcy...

I'm already 40 so I know how that feels. Many first time moms don't dilate or baby drops till the last minute. Induction tends not to work when your body is not ready, and emergency c-section are not something that any mom should have to experience. GD is one reason many doctors will push for inductions or c-sections.

Have you been able to do any consistent daily exercise? I have GD too and have been able to stay off insulin and keep my numbers basically in check through swimming 30 minutes every day and following the GD diet the dietician gave me. I also found that potatoes and whole wheat bread must stay at 2 carbs a meal even when I am allowed 4 carbs in a meal in order to keep my sugar numbers down. Stress, not drinking enough water, and forgetting to wash your hands with soap and water before testing at all can cause high numbers. Then again, sometimes there is no reason at all. Drinking lots of water seemed to help me too. Think of it as diluting the sugar in your system so the sample your meter takes in has less sugar per part blood.

AFM, I am still pregnant, although I though maybe today would have been the day - got woken up to squeezing contractions at 6 a.m. but by 2 p.m. after some great pelvic back massage by DH and some extra sleep, all the squeezing was gone and I was feeling pretty good. Tried to go to sleep at 8:15 p.m. tonight because I was tired, took my zantac for heart burn, but it was still bothering me at 10:15 so I got up to eat a snack. Now I hope I can actually go back to bed and sleep because I figure I will have these babies soon. Currently 37 + 2.

Funny thing, whole grains or complex carbs are suposed to be good they said, but for me if i ate like shredded wheat plain which is a ton of fibre, it did not work at all for my numbers. some foods react differently with people. after a week or two you can figure it out what works and what does not.

FYI, home run in pizza's, make uncured meat ones, so no worries about nitrates AND for me anyway the thin crust ones with a glass of milk worked wonders on my numbers..just something to try.

Caihla is actually on Zantac right now for her GERD. Hoping to see results soon, but from what i've read it can take up to a week to see any improvement. I just want her to be able to eat and not vomit. Right now she is starting to realize mommy's boobs = pain and today she refused to eat from me. I had to pump and give her it in a bottle. :(

Yeah, finding triggers for GD high numbers took me a couple of weeks. It didn't seem to matter which carbs I ate either sometimes, whether it was "whole grains or complex carbs" or not. Although with straight up sugar, like the sweet and sour sauce I put on top of meatballs, it would spike my numbers but other than that.

Hope you can figure out and get Caihla's GERD under control. I am sure that straight from the ####### milk is a whole lot easier for you to keep up with.

Feeling good this morning. Maybe my babies will come tomorrow. I am tired of the GD diet.

Thanks for the tips ladies. My after breakfast reading is always really good - my fasting number though is always high and my after dinner number. I'm going to try going for a walk after lunch and seeing if that helps and also drinking more water. The dietician did give me a sample diet and my numbers are still wonky, so I'm suspecting I'll be put on that medication next week. I've been finding the diet isn't that hard to follow - it's just remembering to eat and take my blood readings all the time along with taking my other meds for DVT.

I hear you on the medical bills - I was surprised to receive bills from about 4 different companies for my hospital stay! I am so fortunate to have been approved for emergency medical funding for non-residents for my emergency stay back in July. I got to call them all a few days ago and give them my case file number, yay!

I hope Caihla starts to feel better. That must be rough seeing her go through that. Lilac, you must be so excited to meet your babies. What an adventure you're going to be having very soon!
