sometimes I just amazed at ppl here. Cant even put together 16,000 a year to bring someone here and need co-sponsers, etc. If my kids ever presented me with such a proposition, I would just laugh. If you bring em here, you support them.

Why would anyone want to come here and live in poverty....16,000????? That wouldnt get you a trailer in Arkansas eating corn every day.

get tired of seeing the same questions every day...I dont even respond to them.

grumpy??...no....cynic.......SI

I agree. If you can't pull together 16k a year, you've got no business getting married or even procreating. I had that much while I was in college, it makes me laugh when people say they can't qualify because theyve been in school.

Wow. Harsh. I don't qualify because I've been living in Brazil for the past year making pretty much an average middle-class salary, aka less than 16k a year. I have only been working here for three months. Yes, I make more than 16k.

Why shouldn't I ask my dad to sponsor? It's not like I'm not going to actually have the money to support him, I just don't meet the government's standards to prove I can do so. Not to mention my fiance's earning potential is a lot greater than mine.

And congratulations to you making 16k/year in college. Must have been hard work. (not sarcastic)

It wasn't, actually. And yeah living overseas, I get that. But living in the US and not being able to make 16k (assuming yer healthy and all that)? Inexcusable.

Ah, fair enough. You've gotta hope their spouses are capable of earning a LOT more than the USC is. However I think everyone should have the right to be with whomever they choose, even those working at the Wal-Mart.

the formula for disaster is when you cant put together 16,000 a year and need mommy and daddy to co-sponser.....and then live with the in-laws. Almost guaranteed to fail.

Time to be a man, as I hope that your parents taught you...get a job here...and qualify on your own.

Seen so many disasters here....living with parents....grown adults....trapped.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Ya know, life is not all about money- nor is 'success' determined by it.

In your generalization, you are not taking into consideration people who work hard, but with different rewards. For example, charity workers.

When I was in Florida I was working 6am- 6pm, 6 days a week, and recieved no pay. My co-workers did the same, and earned $500 a month. We were 'paid' in food and lodgings. This was a lifestyle we chose, and one that I plan to return to. We were there to help the animals, supported one another and lived a simple lifestyle that did not revolve around money. Had I been the USC that fell in love, no technically I would not have fulfilled the USCIS income requirements, and I would have gotten a co-sponsor. Would that have been so inexcusable?

Just remember, not everyone's goal in life is to earn a bundle of green paper.

16k is not a bundle. It is a pittance. If you work full-time and can't even pull that much off, lay off the procreating cuz you're nothing but a loser.

So by the looks of it you ARE including charity workers in your generalisation.

How nice of you to judge those who work for the benefit of others rather than themselves.

Western society is riddled with greed, egotism, paranoia and misery and as money is the source of this, I am glad I dont earn much of it.

working for charities is fine. Setting up a household so you and your spouse can live 'sponge-free' is imperetive though. I have seen so many posts here about couples who have to live with in-laws or others to make ends meet--and they are not happy. I think the message is that a couple should do there upmost to be sustainable on their own and especially if they have kids. Its not about making a ton of money--its about having enough for housing, food, transportation, and other necesities.
