<Rant>

So I walk in to work late this morning. 2 consultants are squatting in my cube, which is fine. I'm over an hour late so it's a fair assumption I'm working from home today. Anyway, I get their attention and tell them they're in my cube. They apologize profusely but tell me they need 5 minutes to wrap up before they can log out. Fine. I leave my laptop bag and coat in my cube and go to the bank upstairs to deposit a check and then picked up some coffee. When I come back, my cube is vacated as promised but my super awesome optical mouse is missing and so is my power cord (which I need cuz my battery is hosed).

Fuсkin consultants! Where did they go? I find them squatting in another cube nearby. I walk up to them, say hey how ya doing? They're chirpy, hi. Sorry about your cube, they say. No problem! So, I see you have my mouse. Oh, sorry! I also noticed my power cord is missing. The guy has the nerve to say "yeah, I need it". I say "it's mine" and he repeats that he needs it. At this point I laugh and tell him to go find another one, I am sure his company contact can hook him up. He resists... repeats that he needs it and can't work without it. At this point his resistance is beginning to sound like begging.

Fuсk you!!! First you take my stuff without even asking and now that I found it you're begging me to let you keep it?

GFY!!!!

Azzhats. So did you take the mouse and cord back or not?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Of course I did. My laptop wouldn't have power without it.

What the hell was he thinking? Do you have an office manager who can hook him up with any equipment he might need? I would have said that my cubicle is not a supply source and that the office manager can get him whatever equipment he needs.

We're IT, we manage our own supplies.

But as external consultants, their company contact (that is, whoever is paying for them) is responsible for getting them supplies above and beyond what they're expected to bring with them. A power cord is something they're expected to travel with, as is a mouse if they feel they need one.
