Hmm... they received it, they cashed the check...

Guys,

I understand that they sometimes need a little longer. What makes me crazy is the evidence that speaks against this.

If I look in the December 2009 filer thread and I see people who send their paperwork on or around the same time as the USCIS received mine, nearly all of them already have a NOA date and a lot also a Bio date.

It just makes me crazy and so worried that apparently so many have their response already, but me. Because the feeling I got from reading all the threads is that the NOA is send out fair quickly after they received the paperwork and the check is cashed. Based on the December filer thread the NOA usually has the application date + 2 to 4 days as a date of printing.

We post the date on the NOA not the date we actually got it on our hand. Even if you are issued with NOA as of today you will get it in a couple of days. Mine had probably 1 week difference between the date of approval and the date I actually had it from my mailbox...

That is a great idea to look at the check for the case number.

My problem is: I will need some sort of proof that my status is extended prior to 02/23... otherwise I will run into trouble with my employer!

If you don't have the NOA-1 by 14 Feb, make an infopass appointment, get the extension handled via infopass at the local USCIS office.

GOOD LUCK !

  • 2 weeks later...

Still no NOA, nor any sign of Bio Letter.

I hope I am not missing my Bio because I have not received anything yet. My assumption is that if I miss the Bio the application gets rejected right away?!

USCIS told me that VSC needs currently around 30 days to issue NOAs, but my concern is that this is their standard answer anyway.

No NOA1 but the ASC Appointment Notice for Bio. So great... now I have something in my hands, but still nothing that will satisfy my Employer.

Hmpf.

Btw, Bio letter is dated 01/14/2010, the Bio Appointment itself is on 02/01/2010

Hi Oban,

Glad to hear an update from you. Also, glad to hear that you received your Bio letter. Best case for you now, just schedule an infopass appointment and get your passport stamped with the 1 year extension which should be more than enough for your employer. if you have to go to New Orleans to get your biometrics, see if you can get your passport stamped on the same trip (unless there is a service center closer that you can go there on a different time).

cheers!

Maybe is NOW time to 'meet your neighbors' ?

Walk around - introduce yourself, ask each one 'do you have my mail?'

US Postal Carriers (the lads that handle the mail for you ) aren't that interested in ensure that YOU get YOUR mail - as long as it's IN the general vicinity of YOUR mailbox - all is ok with them.

Two comments: first - the number that is stamped on the back of the cheque and the NOA number are the same but neither of them are valid for looking up your case status on line or through the misinformation line. It is an internal number only. The valid case number that will work for case status updates is the one on the biometrics appointment letter. It is different for the Removal of Conditions process than it is for the other processes.

second - if you haven't received the NOA and it has been 30 days since your application was received or your green card is expiring before that time, make an infopass appointment and request the I-551 stamp to be placed in your passport. Last year there were a whole slew of us who never received the NOA letter so we had to get the passport stamp.

The biometrics and infopass appointments are generally not held in the same location. There are more places to get biometrics done than there are USCIS offices, so check and see if the USCIS office is in the same city as the Biometrics appointment. If it is - especially if you have to travel a distance - do try to schedule them on the same day, allowing for travel time between the two locations.

Good luck.
