I am so shocked right now I can't even cry. I wrote our AOS interviews down on the wrong date in my appointment book and we have missed it. Someone just sent me a PM suggesting that I correct my timeline, which has the correct appointment date on it... that's when I checked our appointment notices and saw that the timeline is correct, and all my other plans are WRONG.

Please please don't say it. I will be beating myself up about this for years. Just please help if you can...

I've called USCIS 800 number and they don't even have our appointments in their automated system.

I tried online to get an Infopass appointment and they say none are available.

Please, does anyone have any suggestions?

I just can't believe I did this.

:crying:

If you cant get an infopass appointment you could try doing a walk in.... you may have to wait a long time but you need to act on this quickly or you will get a denial for failing to attend....

You may have to file a motion to re-open your case or you may be quicker filing all over again....

Good Luck

I am so sorry this has happened to you. Thats crazy that you cannot get an infopass meeting. As Kezzie said go to your local USCIS office and just hope they do walk-ins.

OMG we are so ______.

I just talked to someone on the USCIS 800 number and she said to submit a letter to the local office requesting a new appointment, and enclose a separate letter listing the COMPELLING reason why we missed our appointment. My compelling reason is that I have f***ing rocks in my head, my job is crazy, the list is endless. I am so upset. How am I ever going to tell my husband this evening?

No problem crying now....

maya,

But I would get that letter written up and sent off today for next-day delivery without waiting for an InfoPass appointment. It might be helpful for them to be aware of what happened before they mark the case closed for missing the appointment, hopefully it will take a few days for the case officer to get around to doing that.

[EDIT: I would even try for a walk-in as Kezzie suggested in an earlier post in this thread. Take the appointment notice with you, just the act of showing it will get you face-to-face with someone.]

Thank you everyone for your support (even if I don't deserve it!! :( ).

I drove up to the local office this afternoon and waited in the non-appointment line and talked to a nice guy who seemed to work both security and general information. He said basically the same thing that the USCIS 800 number person said... write a letter and send it right away. I did that this afternoon and sent it overnight UPS.

Tomorrow (what I thought was our appointment day :crying: ), I am going to hand-deliver another letter back to the local office, and maybe see if they will let me talk to an immigration officer. I tried infopass again this evening and got the same message... no appointments available.

I feel extremely contrite, humbled, and STUPID, but I agree that it is best to be proactive right now, so I'll try to find that fine line between polite, quiet persistence and being a pain in the #######.

My husband took the bad news with such equanimity and blames himself for not double-checking the appointment date, but really, I have handled all the immigration stuff (except that which he had to do, like the interview at the Consulate), so he is so not to blame. He is just such a sweetheart. He knows I feel absolutely terrible about this. Our son is following his father's lead... in the end, this may be a good lesson for him in how to handle this kind of adversity (and to be careful about noting important events carefully). I just hate to be his example of what NOT to do.

It really does soften the blow to have the support and advice of people here. Thank you all again so much.
