My wife finally got her green card on July 21st, 2006. Her successful interview was October 19th, 2005, but nothing ever happened after that. We called the 800 number 3 times and were always told that "someone would get back with us." They never did.

Then on June 30th we went for an infopass appointment and were told there was no problem. Her card had been started on the 27th. Next, we got a July 11th, 2006 letter from Lee's Summit saying that work on her card had started and it would be 2 to 4 weeks. Then I got an e-mail claiming she was "finally approved on July 13th, 2006 and a new card was being prepared for her."

Her card arrrived July 21st, 2006 and the "welcome letter" never came. We can laugh now and are just so releived that the card is here after all this mess. Now that we have the card I can firmly say that I think I know what the holdup was. They sat her paperwork aside and forgot about it. Plain and simple, that is what happened. This is why all the silence when we inquired, and it took an infopass appointment to get the ball rolling again.

Now we find that we have a valid green card but the date on it goes back to that original interview in October of 2005. Well, so much for the 2 year card. We are just happy to have it now.

HERE IS MY ADVICE TO ANYONE HAVING TROUBLE AFTER THE AOS INTERVIEW:

1. Use the 800 number only for address changes and the like.

2. For any delay or other problems always use infopass.
