If you qualify for IR-1, you'd have to be insane to consider the K-3.

then why do you say that if you are happy with CR1 or IR1 ? did not you know you can do "AOS" that time and you did not have to turn back to India and you would be able to go on your visa process in NY-USA ?

Sachinky didn't need to go through any spouse visa process because he/she was already in the USA legally (as a student) when the mariage took place.

Think any visa instead of just staying and changing status. Apples and oranges to your own case.

The paperwork you are looking at is for DCF, which you indicated you are not... So your fees are paid directly to NVC, not the consulate... Take a good look at the guides here on VJ for CR/IR1, they are your friends!!! They will halp you understand the process and payments, to whom and when they are made...

As far as Sachinky's case, as Pushbrk indicated, totally different ball game since the spouse was in the USA...

11-30-09: GOT GREEN CARD in mail!!!!!!

Citizenship Process;

1/11/2013: Mailed N400 to Dallas Texas

3/11/2013: interview.. Approved

4/4/2013. : Oath! Now a U.S. citizen!
