Wow, how things can change in an instant.....My husband finally got a job in Lebanon! Although he is currently employed in Saudi as a Restuarant manager, he hates his job and compares it to indentured servitude. So now he wants me to move lebanon with him and file DCF after 6 months. I had just finished filling out the I-130 petition and he has asked that I put it on hold. So my question is what should i do? Go or stay...File or do DCF. Are you allowed to start the filing process and cancel it later? I probably will not have a job upon arrival and from what I was told residents aren't allowed to work unless you buy a work permit. Thanks!

i don't have any real advice regarding this circumstance. You can definitely start the process and cancel... that's been done before (you just might have to explain why later... and of course, changing jobs is an acceptable reason).

i just wanted to say that living in Lebanon sounds very romantic ! Go for it if you are up for the adventure and have no hardcore ties here.

Not to mention you get to be together throughout the process which has to make it easier!

I will say one thing though...in order to return you will have to show that you have a place to live and income at 125% of the poverty level or assets to satisfy the I-864. If you don't either have the assets to satisfy the requirements or a job, then you will need a sponsor for your husband's visa. This is just something to consider when you are going through the process. I had also considered making this move at the end of my teaching contract in May but I wouldn't be able to sponsor my husband if we ran into complications with the visa and it took too much time. Also, there's a 6 month limit on the CR1 visa. That is, once issued, if you don't come back within 6 months then you have to start over. Those were the main points that led to my decision to stay and wait out the process. But your situation may be different. Just make sure you have all the facts, look at your situation, and make your decision together. Personally, I would LOVE it if I could teach in Morocco for a while and do a DCF so if your situation allows it, I'd say seriously consider it.

Thanks Charles :D Ive actually had the pleasure of getting to know her over the internet.....and our husbands are actually pretty close friends now and hang out once a week or so.

btw girl i think George is sad to hear he may be leaving Riyadh already

I wish you 2 the best in your visa process. I wish if you can live together and pass through this time. Keep me posted.

Also another thing that your dh may want to look into-----we have heard that they are changing the iqama procedures in Saudi to base them on income/salary rather then the iqama profession ..... we are waiting on this thing to go into effect so we can be in Saudi and not have to worry about having to fight to get family visit visas. He may want to check into that and see about filing from Riyadh once you establish your 6mths there.

June 11 05-Married George, civil ceremony in New York

May 30 08-Baby Joshua was born

Jan 15-Back to NY we go...
