I called FBI a few days ago and found out that my 2nd fingerprinting has been rejected again because they cannot read it (quality issue). On my own accord, I walked in to the biometrics center again (for the 3rd time) yesterday to try to see if I can get my fingerprint done. However, I was declined and was asked to wait for instructions from USCIS.

My interview is scheduled on April 14. I was planning to get a police clearance letter from NYC police headquarters. I also need one from California. However, when I checked out the NY police website, it seems that I would need a letter from USCIS requesting for the clearance letter.

I also called the USCIS customer service line, as usual, no useful information given.

Question:

1. Should I go ahead and get all my police clearance letters, without the USCIS letter? (Would probably cost my a few hundred bucks anyway..)

2. Have anyone has similar experience or heard of situations like this?

3. Any advice is appreciated!!

I think I would continue to call USCIS to see if you can get a more clear answer on what to do.

I'd start a new topic just to see if anyone else has been through something like this before.

I applied in january and had my interview today in dallas. i passed it but somehow FBI has not finished background checks of individuals who have applied after jan. 8th, so they are not making the final decisions. They tell you that you should receive your oath letter within the next two months. Man, was not I excited

Hi All,

My wife and I had our interviews today and all went well...as posted earlier, the FBI are running behind (or actually not prioritizing US citizenship applications) so they have a 3 month backlog apparently (so for awhile now they have not fully processed anyone for their oaths). I was told that it would take awhile before we get our letters inviting us for the oath.

At the end of the day, we are a bit closer so that's nice!

Test questions (mix from the two of us):

* What do we swear allegiance to

* Ocean on East Coast

* How many Senators

* Freedom of Religion

* What State boarders Canada

* Selective service

* Constitution written when

* What is an amendment

* What di the Declaration of Independence do

*What's the Capital of Texas

The whole process took about 10 minutes. Sucks about not being able to take the oath today...but that's life!

Now we instead need to wait until they've processed the fingerprints, and as long as there are no issues, they will send a letter inviting us to come in for the oath.

Did they actually tell you it was specifically a fingerprint check, or did they say "background check?" I suspect the checks they were talking about are FBI Name Checks. Usually the fingerprint check clears within 24-48 hours of when you go for your FP appointment.

I actually referred to fingerprinting and FBI background check as one and the same..sorry for any confusion. I do believe it is the background checks that is the holdup.

I had my interview today in Irving,TX at 10.30am and also completed the Oath ceremony at 1:30pm.....

Everything went well and the officer was very nice. Asked few question from N400 application and then 6 questions followed by

a statement to read and write. Asked me to read "What do we pay the Government" and Write "We pay taxes". Overall process

took only 10 - 15mins but had to wait for Oath ceremony which start at 1.30pm. This takes only about 1.5 - 2 hours.

Had my interview today. It was fast 10 mins or so.

I passed the interview and according to the officer the only thing I am waiting on now is the letter for the oath ceremony.

Some of the questions asked:

What is the supreme law of the land.

What is an amendment.

I don't remember the rest.
