I went to my interview today and, after all was said and done, the officer rescheduled me until May 12,two weeks after I will have completed my five years in the United States. Although, there have been exceptions with other Visa Journals members taking the test before completing their 3 or 5 years the officer decided not to do this with me. Needless to say, he was very nice, polite and courteous with me. Today, all was not lost, I was able to relax my nerves and feel that I won't be as nervous when I go back for my interview and part of the reason being that, after he went over all my paper work, he told me that everything was in order and that nothing was missing. I hope that my journal is of some help and comfort to some of you. Till next time, take care and God bless you all.

Well I did my second round of finger prints on Wednesday, and they all went through this time. I was told after my first set that they might get rejected because they weren't detailed enough. Only to return a month later (after receiving another notice for fingerprinting because the FBI couldn't read them) to do them again at the same place. This time I saw that the ASC had their biometrics machines upgraded, so the finger prints went through properly - they were much more accurate and picked up more detail. Also they've upgraded their webcams to DSLRs. Seems somebody is getting some funding.

In the meantime I got a letter asking for additional documentation to bring to the interview. No interview scheduled yet, so it seems like I'm the last January applicant who still has to get an interview date.

I actually referred to fingerprinting and FBI background check as one and the same..sorry for any confusion. I do believe it is the background checks that is the holdup.

You can call the FBI and provide them with your A# and/or I think SSN and they can tell you if your biometrics have cleared or not yet!

Interview experience Boston MA:

Appointment at 2:30pm, arrived at 2 pm. Boston office seems to divided the interview into several pieces.

First, I needed to check in at information desk. Then the language and civics tests were conducted. Got six questions:

1. First US president

2. Who is the governor

3. one promise you make when becoming a US citizen

4. What did Martin Luther King do?

5. Where is Statue of Liberty

6. Name one author of the Federlist Papers

Then had to read "Who lives in the White House" and wrote "The President lives in the White House."

So I passed these tests. Then I had to go to the interview waiting room. After 30 minutes or so, an IO called me in. He basically just confirmed all the things that I have filled in on N400. After the interview was over, I was handed a paper saying congratulations and my case was recommended for approval.

I had to go back to the waiting room and wait for another 20 minutes or so to get my Oath Ceremony schedule. It is going to be on July 14th in JFK library.

I left around 3:45 pm.

Having some difficulty figuring out how to update the list using the multiquote tab. Maybe someone can help me out?

Thank you, V333k. Hmm, this time the reply function actually seemed to have worked. Last time, when I click reply, the writing area is completely empty with no quotations.

It does seem a long time, huh? But unfortunately, 3 months between interview and oath seems to be the norm in Boston. Good luck with your journey!

Thanks!

As for replying, if something is already in a quote, then it will be automatically removed. I had to go and list that was not in a quote... I had to update the changes other have done but kept the reply in quotes....

Well, at least you know there is one last step to take and that is a simple one.... you are almost there!

This question is for cle2000, hey did they ask you for your passport at the interview?

Hey Tasha23.. Can't vouch for cle2000 but the following was my experience.

When I went to my interview last week the IO did ask for the passport and also made a copy of it.

Good luck!

I havent been in over 12 years and im asking the question cuz i lost my passport, and no i didnt file a police report (everyone tells me i should have done this, didnt know). So i wanted to know if its super important to have one (like will i be denied and stuff like that). Thanks for ur reply.

Yes, he did. He looked both at the new and old passports and actually made a mark on one of the pages. I think he wrote down my A number there and "N400 Bos" on the page of my last entry.

Yes, I have been almost in and out the country every year, but only for a short period of time each time. It seems that he in my case was looking for the dates that I filled in N400 form about the dates spent outside of the country, but of course I could not be sure of that.

Tasha23, as everyone said, you should've filed a police report and even notified your consulate about the lost passport. However, from what I know is that they like to see your passport if you listed any travel during the past 3 or 5 years. Passport stamps are the best proof, in USCIS eyes, that you have met your physical presence rule and the residency rule. USCIS doesn't care about the passport since you are about to be naturalized which means you are pledging allegiance to the US and give up allegiances to other countries. To the US, once naturalized, you are a US citizen and nothing else.

This is my take on it....

I had all my passports with me and I had been out of the country exactly 5 years ago on my interview date.

The IO did not look at the other passports only my current passport. My current passport was made just last year and did NOT have any travel stamps on it.

It is a tough call for you because depending on which country you are a national of it can be a real pain to get a new passport issued based on your situation.

I wish you good luck.
