Yes, as I know, some European countries will consider that you have abadoned your original nationality if you have lived outside of the country more than 10 years and never applied for a passport.

Good luck! I will call the USCIS and see what they say.

I had all my passports with me and I had been out of the country exactly 5 years ago on my interview date.

The IO did not look at the other passports only my current passport. My current passport was made just last year and did NOT have any travel stamps on it.

It is a tough call for you because depending on which country you are a national of it can be a real pain to get a new passport issued based on your situation.

Today I went to the interview at 8:00 and I finished by 8:15. The lady was very nice she asked me raise my hands and say the truth. and she went over the paperwork and ask me the questions on it. Passed it. Im glad I am over this. Now i am waiting for the oath. She said i should receive something in two to 4 months. i wanna thank everybody on this forum for sharing their experience and help here. Good luck to everybody! If yall need the question just let me know.

Can you share more details? What questions and anything else they asked to see (such as evidence they requested, passports, etc...)

she did ask me for the driver licence, passport, recent bill with my wifes name together since I applied on a 3 year basis. She asked about the dates of my trips (two of them about 30 days each trip). Sign the two passport photos.Everything went smooth.

Questions were:

1)What group of people was taken to America

2)Why did the colonist fight the british

3)How many amendments does constituiton have

4)who is the vice president

5)Who makes federal laws

6)Capital of Usa

The interview was yesterday and he passed and they gave him the oath ceremony in the same day. So he took his oath in the afternoon and now he's a US citizen!! Yay!! So glad to be done with immigration!

He said the interviewer was really nice, but he was two hours late being interviewed because the man who was supposed to interview him put his file to the side and then left the office to run some errand. So his file was forgotten for a little while. When someone finally noticed it sitting there they gave him his interview and it went smoothly and quickly.

The oath ceremony had about sixty people taking the oath and the rest of the room was about halfway filled with family of the applicants. The family was about 50/50 with the adults to children ratio. I went with my two year old and my two week old and no one cared at all. Many of the children were ranging from 2 yrs to 7 yrs old. All the kids did really well at staying quiet for the ceremony - even mine.

Does anyone know if spouses could expect to get the oath at the same time?

My wife and I both applied back in January, we've had everything done on the same date. Now, however, I've received my Oath Letter, and she still has not heard. It may still come, but, I thought I'd reach out and ask if anyone knows if spouses generally would have their oaths on the same day?
