It seems like every time I go away from VJ for a while and come back I notice more and more the personal attacks that crop up in threads (especially in OT, but often in the upper forums too).

There's a whole slew of 'holier-than-thou' attitudes abounding out there. Is it just me or does it seem like common decency is being seen less and less on VJ in the last year or so? A thread will go from being about the original post to calling people out as stupid, liberal (or right wing) fanatic, dissing wives, husbands, mamas...I just don't get it people.

Is that better, itzallgood? After all, unlike those who find it funny and sexy to have lampooned photos of the president, I would never want my association as a Christian (or a liberal) to offend someone.

I think that was an impersonal personal attack.

I didn't have a problem with it. But my good friend who escaped the USSR in 1989 told me once that when he sees hammer and sickles used as collectables, fashion accessorie or trivial symbols, it has a bitter meaning for folks who were living under oppression. Geez, have whatever you like in your sig., as long as it is expressive of who you are....

Language is a verra 'orrible, nastie beastie. One should master it, first, 'fore taking it out fer walkies.

I try really hard not to launch personal attacks, and mostly stay out of the middle of dem.

I do note, it seems to me, that one fella (BooYah! ??? ) stirred the pot for some time, but since he's gone, most folk are slowly winding down , the velocity from the stir not as fast.

I dunno - mostly we all have a common goal, but seems to me, huge variances in 'backgrounds'. If you see any personal attack in a forum, hey ! Report It !

Itzallgood, I gotcha. My fellow C4C's have removed theirs and I did too. I don't want to upset anyone, though that wasn't anyone's intention for sure. But I wouldn't want to see anyone with a swastika....
