Certified copies of Birth Certificate in Kentucky

I was born in Kentucky, yet have never lived there. I'm assuming I get my certified copies from the Kentucky (Jefferson County) Clerk's Office?

Anyone gone through this in the Commonwealth before? Prices? Lengths of time?

I don't need it for the petition, but I would prefer not to send my ONLY copy of my birth certificate to my fiance for his interview. So I've got a while. Danke!

EDIT: Nevermind. After some digging, I found that you can do it all online. $10 per copy with $10.50 shipping and arrive in 10-30 days. Perfect for moi. Anyone else that is looking to see if your state offers BC online, check here: http://www.vitalchek.com/

you might be able to do it on-line. At least you can find out how to do it..costs, addresses, etc. Just make sure that you pay the extra cost to have them certified also.

Cass....We just sent in photocopies of our birth certificates with the applications, and they worked just fine.

yes, the county clerk that handles vital records will have your birth certificate.
