The point was not quite drunk then get rape. It is if you're not married, and you're raped - you are fukc by the law. Suppose if an un-married woman get rape, the law will not protect the woman!

Dubai is definitely the land for Republicans.

Getting coma drunk and sleeping on a toilet... Stupid

However, she is still a VICTIM of Rape and should not be punished for reporting that, by prosecuting her, they are silently condoning the actions of the rapist and silencing others who might report it for fear of being prosecuted for something... I realize there are laws that are foreign to many of us here, but should'nt the more severe crime (that by the way could keep happening if such criminals are permitted to stay on the street) take precidence over a "moral" issue? If the woman is not prosecuted, after this experience I would think that this would be a big enough wake up call for her to keep her from passing out drunk in foreign bathrooms, however, if the rapest is not punished or other rapists not reported, there is a good chance they will continue their behavior...

im not going to say i agree with them rape is rape but i have a questions what in the world is a muslim doing drinking?

Sara, not all Muslims observe all the laws in the Koran. No more so than do all Jews or Christians or anyone observe all laws.

I'm Jewish. But I eat non-kosher food and don't observe the Sabbath. It doesn't make me non-Jewish, it just means that I'm not devout.

There are many people who identify themselves as Muslims yet who drink alcohol.

Sara's question reminds me of a girl I knew in college. She was Muslim. We both knew this guy, also Muslim..we were all in the same class.

This guy cheated on his exam. I knew, because I helped.

Anyway, in a conversation he came up and I told her... he cheats that's why he does well. Her response to me was "No he doesn't cheat". I laughed, asked her how she could be so sure. She said, real matter of fact like without even a hint of irony... "he's Muslim".

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I guess this is a good lesson for Muslims why we should not drink and become drunk.Bad things happen.

i know in other threads i've been going on and on about how all muslims aren't responsible for bad sh!t other muslims do, but this post, along with sara's, just embarrassed me. freaking pedantic.

a.woman.was.RAPED. what is so hard to understand here?

last i checked, sexual assault is not the prescribed manner of punishment for drinking alcohol. i seriously just got nauseated reading this. dubai's perversion of justice sucks. it makes me feel ill. and some of the responses from my co-religionists is having the same effect on me here.

So often women, even if not outright blamed for their own rape, are seen as complicit. Her drunkenness is irrelevant. The issue here is that victims of rape are prosecuted for having sex outside of marriage. Prefacing a comment about her drinking with, "well, I don't agree with her rape, but...." is entirely missing the point IMO.

This story is almost a fairy tale compared to what happened three years ago.

A french teenager got kidnapped in a video game arcade by 3 emiratis, he got raped repeatedly and finally released in the middle of nowhere.

When the parents finally could find their child back, the first thing they did was to go to the police of course, which accused the teenager of homosexual behavior...

Worse, one of the rapers was HIV positive...

As you know, of course, there's no such thing as AIDS in Dubai, hrm hrm.

The teenager parents had to involve the french government to get out of this nightmarish situation:

Don't drink in any country that has religious "laws".. Religion and politics just don't mix.

Not if you want govt. to be an effective killing machine.

Just ask the Communists.

This women is a "victim" of her own stupidity.

Under the circumstances, I doubt a case would have been brought forward in any country.

Certainly not motivation to go to Dubai and pay 30,000 bucks a night for a hotel room. Could have bad side effects.

rape is one of the worst things that can happen to any women or man.....there is no excuse for rape......if anyone thought that i was condoning rape i was not and sorry u took it that way......

my questions about the drinking and being with her fiance in the hotel room stem from our religion they did not imply that it was ok she was raped

Dubai has a bad history of how they treat anyone that reports rape or any other crime for that matter.......

even if i personally was not musim i would be very careful in any country that has laws against drinking......or unmarried sex......

just my opinion
