Co-sponsor I-864 Question - RFE

On the recent RFE we got, NVC put an X on these two for our co-sponsor:

a.) The amount listed on the Total Household Income line does not equal the sum of the amounts listed on the preceeding lines.

b.) Father-in-law's income indicated on the I-864 part 25 does not correspond to that shown on the most recent tax return and W-2's.

The reason why it didn't match was because my father-in-law excluded the income of my mother-in-law, he only wrote his income. I think they have joint tax.

What is the best thing to do? Is it ok to just attach an explaination letter indicating that we did not include my mother-in-law's income and that's why they don't match??

Please Help, thanks!

For item A, total household income (question 24) - does the amount at 24A plus the amount at 24B equal the amount you entered at 24C?

What did you send for your Father in Law for proof of income? An IRS transcript? Just a tax return and slips?

If you sent a transcript you were also supposed to include his income/earnings slips as well (ie: W2s etc) to prove what his individual income is, since he files a joint return with his wife.
