I was hoping to reach out to the VJ community for a little advice on timing...

My fiancee is taking her nursing boards on June 4 & 5 and needs to be back in the Philippines to take her oath for August 27th. I was considering seeing if she could fly out on June 7th and then maybe fly back out the end of August for her oath and then come back and live with me, permanently..

If she comes out on the 7th, I think I can convince her to go down to the courthouse with me on June 8th (get married) and send all the paperwork in immediately.. How likely is it that I would be able to get her advance parole and allow her to come back to the country? I'm anticipating she'll have her K1 visa in May.. Can I file anything at that point to ensure she gets her AP?

What are my options? I really would prefer to do this then wait another 3 months for her to come out here permanently..

I think that may be cutting it a bit close hoping to receive AP in time to return to take the oath. The K1 visa is good for 6 months. The safest thing would be for her to wait until after the oath to come to the US.

The K1's good for 90 days... I agree, it's definitely safer to wait but I was wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar.. (hoping for good news) :-)

I think it's a bit close on the timing.

Remember, the K-1 visa is SINGLE ENTRY.

I think is possible, to do what you need to do, but - you'll need to add in extra stuff to the I-131 document (AP ) and write in red letters (EXPEDITE FOR TRAVEL ) in most white spaces around the form, also include a cover letter explaining what's what for the I-131.

I'm saying it's possible, but can't gaurantee what the CIS folk will do about it.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The K1 visa is valid for 6 months or until used. The period of authorized stay upon entry is 90 days. This is an important distinction that you seem to be missing.

Ok, thanks.. I understand the 6 months but it doesn't impact anything.. 6 months from June is December..

The only thing it impacts is when she will be with you and when you get married. I personally wouldnt chance it...that is cutting it very close. I'm sure it can be done, but I wouldnt want to gamble on that.

Why does she need to attend the oath-taking ceremony?

I totally didn't care about it.

When I passed the licensure exam, I didn't claim my license until now. It will be 3 years come August this year since I passed the board exam. I have chosen not to be in a queue just to get my license.

Tell your fiancee to just get her license without joining the oath-taking ceremony.

Hakuna matata.

God bless us all.
