Approved on 12/29, but no updates uscis. Then, 1/4 & 1/5 there were duplicate emails saying that card production was ordered.

I checked online status, it said the same.

Now, this morning there was new email saying approval notice sent. #######?

We already received the approval notice, why would we get another one?

And how many card production orders are there gonna be? yikes!

What happens to the expired 2 year gc? Do we need to send that back or cut it up?

I'm wondering if this new NOA is for us to send back old gc....

Don't worry about the online system, it has some glitches (see my signature). :yes: You are approved, and that's the important thing! :thumbs:

You can keep your 2-year green card as a memento in your files, you don't have to send it back or cut it up. :no: It will be expired and therefore invalid, after all! :lol:

Yes - email notifications are not as accurate as you would expect them to be. As long as you have your approval letter in your hands, then you are in the clear.

wow, I was wondering the same thing. I got my approval letter 4 days ago and I don't have any updates on my case online. I hope my new GC is already on its way, because my DL is expiring soon.

Heh yeah it's crazy. My wife's DL card is expiring soon as well. However, I think if things get tight we are ready to bring that approval letter with us if the GC doesn't arrive first.

We received the approval letter dated 12/22 after we got back from a holiday and then we just received the email and text (I signed up for both) about the card production ordered status. It states we should receive the GC within 30 days so that should still be ahead of the DL expiration window.

But yeah, to the original poster it's good to get notifications in general, even if they are duplicates. Also I recall some disclaimer stating these methods of notifications were still in experimental /beta stages. Like one of the others said, having that approval letter is the big one outside of the new GC. You're good to go! I was surprised I didn't get a notification about the approval at all but hey I'll take it! I expected an answer within 6 months and not 3! We were pleasantly surprised.

10/29/2009 - Biometrics taken. Whole process took about 40 min including the wait

12/22/2009 - Approved for ROC!

01/08/2010 - Received text and email: Card production ordered

01/15/2010 - Received Green Card in the mail!

The online system has been malfunctioning for nearly two years, and USCIS is the first to admit that it is unreliable. It was a nice try when they introduced the system. but it got overwhelmed at some point. I imagine some federal contractor has been getting big bucks to maintain it and wants more to fix it.
