Hello my visajourney friends,

My wife is getting ready to take her citizen test and when it is done we want to apply for her sister to come and live with us. She is not married and has a 3 year old daughter with no father on the birth certificate. I have heard from other people that there is a way to bring both of them to the US at the same time. Does anyone know anything about this?

thanks

Jeremy

You have been misinformed. Once your wife becomes a US citizen, she can file for her sister. Her niece would be a derivative beneficiary on the petition for her sister. She cannot file directly for her niece. There will only be one I-130 petition. It takes at least 10 years for a USC to petition for a sibling.
