I'll let you know how NVC goes I am missing a few documents such as police certificate so for me it might not go as quickly.. But from what ive seen NVC can take like 30 days to go through. Longest part is the Noa1-noa2 from what ive heard.

hey guys, it seems all of us are just waiting. how about we start chipping in what we've prepared so far in this "waiting game" (if the OP doesn't mind)

for me, i've prepared the following:

1. DS forms-made drafts. not finalizing anything yet, but will soon enough

2. requested tax transcripts from the IRS (automated voice service is great!)

3. got a copy of my employment agreement from my employer, notarized and included job position held, date of hire, salary per hour and annum, contact details on a formal piece of paper (don't know the exact name, but the paper has a different texture and slightly bigger then the usual 8 1/2 x 5) with the company letterhead

4. started compiling pictures with captions (i'm up to 30 pictures, but still searching for more for 2008 because all of the files-soft and hard copies were destroyed in a flood)

5. started filling out I-864 for my husband and I-864W for our daughter

6. had my husband do his part in getting his NBI clearance, passports for him and our daughter, obtaining 5 copies each of their birth certs and our marriage contract (i know it's a little over the top, but it beats having to go back and forth for copies) and getting medical certs (he was diagnosed with a tumor and had treatment, but it's still there; and our daughter had primary complex way back and had treatment for that---i know any form of tuberculosis may raise a red flag)

7. and of course started saving like crazy for plane tickets, IV fees, AOS fees, medical fees and those irritating little expenses that are non-avoidable

i know all of us are excited and waiting eagerly for that NOA2 approval. hope we all zoom through NVC!!!

We got NOA1 Jan 7th and haven't had any touches yet. I'm quite encouraged by the Dec filers getting approved - Igor's list is showing the movement so that's great news all around for all of us.

We've got practically all our paperwork ready to go for NVC - all documents in order etc and are just waiting for NOA2 then the transer of the file to NVC etc. Feels good to be ready to go but it's still hurry up and wait until NVC gets the file and starts that process. But I'm glad to have our work taken care of so we can move quickly when we need to.

Heyy guys...can I ask you something...I know all of us are waiting ...and getting prepped for the next step...I was going through the shortcut guides...and I had the following questions...

I know that as a beneficiary one would have to prepare the DS-3032 and components for DS-230 IV Package so do we wait for NVC to send us the package after we get our NOA2 approved? In other words...would we be recieving any package from NVC or do we get all these forms on their website?

Secondly, as a petitioner, I have the same question....do we wait to get the I-864 AOS package...or they are all available online?

Lastly, does the petitioner sends in everything...from the DS-3-32 and the DS-230IV package??

Just wondering...just a little confused...I have got my documents done....from marriage certificate...to the birth...just holding out on the police certificates as I know they expire in 6 months...so want to get them when the times right...

Let me know, thanks guys!

Check LingChe's short cut and see the NVC flowchart for additional information.

I believe NVC sends out the forms but what we've done is downloaded the forms from the USCIS gov site.

NVC will send the petitioner a bill for the I 864 (aff of support), when that gets paid ($70) then they also generate an immigration bill ($400) and that gets paid.

NVC sends a copy of the DS 3032 and DS 230 to the petitioner but will send this to the beneficiary. The beneficiary completes the 230 and 3032 and sends to NVC , birth certicate, police certificate etc- along with a cover letter. As well, NVC wants copies ie original birth certifcate AND a copy, police certificate AND a copy etc etc This cover letter you can find on the guides section of VJ. As well the petitioner pays the two bills/fees and completes the Aff of Support.

The beneficiary sends his or her forms and the petitioner sends his or her forms to NVC - there are two streams that all go to NVC. Again check out LingChe's shortcut and it'll show this.

You can't send the forms in before your case gets to NVC but once the files are there and you get your NVC case number you should have it all ready to move quickly. Also NVC is driven by the payment system so the forms get generated by NVC according to the bills generated and paid.

I"m going to have all the forms ready to go so when we move to NVC and get the case number we'll be ready to get those forms out to them asap. You also have the opportunity to get electronic processing. Some people think this has made things move quicker. Hard to say definitively.

Hope this helps

I have a couple of questions for you, since you know what your doing...I'm still trying to plan for what I have to do.

1. Isn't the medical checkup suppose to happen when they come to the US? Or do they see a civil surgeon abroad?

2. Also wondering if you or anyone knows anything about the W-7 form from the IRS, since it it tax season. I think most of us got married in 2009...who else is considering claiming a joint return with your spouse??

3. After we get the NOA2 approval, are we suppose to be applying for the Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, at the same time?

Last question...if your spouse abroad puts you down as the "agent" do you get all the mail (specifically the IV package)? In addition, do our spouse abroad have to mail us the IV papers that need their signature??

Thanks in advance for answering any of my questions.

I have a couple of questions for you, since you know what your doing...I'm still trying to plan for what I have to do.

1. Isn't the medical checkup suppose to happen when they come to the US? Or do they see a civil surgeon abroad?

As far as I know, the medical checkup happens abroad before the interview

2. Also wondering if you or anyone knows anything about the W-7 form from the IRS, since it it tax season. I think most of us got married in 2009...who else is considering claiming a joint return with your spouse??

My case is different because we've been married for 3 1/2 years and my husband doesn't work right now because he's recuperating from an illness. My W-7s were filed as "single" as were my ITRs. I asked H&R Block about this, including the ITIN requirement for him and my daughter. They told me to file as single and not with dependents since I haven't seen them in more than six months, they do not have income of their own to report, and I'm not in dire need to get tax cuts/benefits.

3. After we get the NOA2 approval, are we suppose to be applying for the Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, at the same time?

I'm sure someone will come along and help you with this. Is your spouse within the US?

Last question...if your spouse abroad puts you down as the "agent" do you get all the mail (specifically the IV package)? In addition, do our spouse abroad have to mail us the IV papers that need their signature??

I'm not sure on this one. Haven't reached that in the process yet.

Thanks in advance for answering any of my questions.

As with Sachinky said, read the guidlelines. LingChe's shortcuts are pretty good.

Hey guys I was going through the Ling shortcuts...and it says that the beneficiary recieves the DS3032 form...in which they indicate who will be the agent...the primary contact...they have given two options...like yourself...or your petitioner...Ling says that most people chose the petitioner...is that a good way to go...or you can be your own agent???

Not sure what's best...was just wondering how to take some load off paperwork from the petitioner...
