Just trying to know...are there any Jan 2010 CR1 filers here...that are still waiting for their NOA2?? ...Just wondering...

Also, if my file went randomly into Additional Processing, you think it will take CSC seven months or more to process it or their usual 5 months time limit?

Just trying to mentally prepare myself for the worst...

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Don't write yourself off yet.. Zenaxe just received his NOA2 last night and he had a NOA1 of more than a week before you. I'm beginning to think it has more to do with which desk it lands on and how fast/slow they are or how often they go on vacation or call in sick, etc. than anything else. wink.gif

Thanks bwoo!

I'm not sure if we have enough time to gather all the necessary documents before the NVC case number was assigned.

Since I am the Canadian, my husband is the one who has to prepare the documents for I-864. The NOA2 came a lot sooner than we expected, and he hasn't filed his 2009 tax return yet. On top of that, his mom is going to be the co-sponsor for I-864so it'll take some extra time to have the form signed and papers from her. I also need to apply for a police certificate, which will take 2 to 3 weeks to receive the result from the Montreal SPVM.

So now here's the question... I'm not sure if we should opt for the EP. I've been reading a lot about this option and thought this was the route to take since it's a lot faster compared to the conventional paper/form processing. But the NOA2 arrived earlier than we expected, what is the point of us using EP if we don't have all the documents yet? It's our bad that we didn't anticipate enough. :bonk:

Another problem is the time line for the Embassy interview in Montreal.

We are going to spend 3 weeks in August in Asia to visit my parents. It is going to be "the" visit because he will be meeting my parents as the son-in-law for the first time. Moreover, we are also going to give 3 concerts there (we're musicians) and the venues are booked and the contract signed. Therefore there is no way that we could cancel this trip.

Right now it looks like there's about a 3-4 months wait for the interview after the case is completed at the NVC. So if we hurry up and get all the documents together to hopefully finish the NVC stage around April/May, there's a good chance that the interview date will fall somewhere in August... when we are going to be in Asia! I don't think I'll want to reschedule my interview.

Any suggestions on how fast or how slow we should proceed at the NVC stage?

It's hard to tell when you will get an interview in Montreal right now.. but I wouldn't hold up NVC processing just to put off the interview. If you were to have the interview before you leave, then that'd be great, because it'd be easier to travel freely between U.S. / Canada / Asia. If it were to be scheduled during your trip, you would be able to re-schedule. Just my thoughts..

Have you read this post? http://www.visajourn...ling-interview/

Someone rescheduled the interview in Montreal. I didn't look at it in detail, but maybe worst case you could re-schedule as soon as you found out when you had a conflicting interview date and your exact travel dates to Asia.

I think you're right, there's no reason to hold up NVC processing. We are still going to use EP and take it one step at a time.

I read the post and it seems like it'd take another long wait (3 months?!) to reschedule the interview... Hopefully there won't be a conflict between our trip and the interview. Well I'm probably thinking too much ahead...

Thanks !! We got the email and text on March 24th. Our NOA 2 hardcopy came is well. We also just got our NVC case number. We called them the next day lol and I guess a woman was a bit snippy saying you have to wait 15 days before calling. We figured we'd keep calling given that others got theirs within a few days. I didn't have too much of a hassle getting through. One day it rang busy a lot but I hung in and waited them out. Yesterday, I called them around 5pm Pacific and got through quickly - they had our case and I got the NVC number. Very exciting. So that took 6 calender days. Not bad.

I didn't answer your one question. The hardcopy (and emails/text) shows the date for March 24th so unlike your story where you were approved a week before your notification of approval, ours is one and the same.
