Ok...so before I read this thread, I went to Costco to get them done.

Wrong. Bad photos, so many things wrong.

After reading this thread, went to AAA and THEY did them wrong. I explicitly told them CANADIAN passport, and she proceeds to do a US Passport photo. I only had a few minutes on my lunch break to do them, so I didn't have time for her to figure out the correct way, to redo them.

Is there anyone in the DC area who has renewed the passport down here, and where did you get your photos done?

I am willing to travel anywhere around here, because I need to get it renewed like yesterday. If my mom goes for her transplant, I'm going to need it

Thanks!

Walgreens is your best bet. I've renewed my passport twice in the states and each time I've used walgreens. They have the machine that now all they have to do is click on the country and it has the dimentions that they need for the photo, plus if for any reason passport canada rejects the photo keep your receipt and walgreens will redo them. Just like if immigration were to reject the photo walgreens will redo them for you at no cost.

so there is person I know who isn't a member of VJ but she is Canadian lving here with her US husband.. anywho, she is looking to get her passport photos done and she said a lot of places won't stamp the back.. I was wondering if this is a requirement... on the passport application form it just says...

The name of the photographer or studio, the address and the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) must be provided directly on the back of one photo

it doesn't mention that it has to be stamped on there...

So glad to see that it can be done here. Silly me was thinking I would have to go up to Canada and get them done. Am hoping to late in the year and will likely just do it then but good to know if I don't then I have options.

At one time you almost had to go back to Canada or do what I had to do and go to an actual specialty shop in the 90's to get my Canadian photo taken. Canada eventually made the standards the same as the US size which then made it simple and easy to get anywhere now. But I just remember it being a pain in the #### to get it before the change about 8 years back...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

Hi Marilyn,

Not sure if this helps..

But when I mentioned the stamp thing to the photographer here in the USA (I went to Walmart in the USA..btw..see above previous posts..)...

They had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for the stamp..

And this was after I showed them the printout from the Passport Canada website, about the photo specs...

They said that they had no such thing as a stamp for their studio...

So I just asked them to write:

"The name of the photographer or studio, the address and the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) must be provided directly on the back of one photo", like it was specified on the form....

Heck, there wasn't enough room on the photo itself to write the full address..So they just wrote the zip code....

Just in case, I even provided Passport Canada the photo reciept, in case they wanted to further verification of the address and/or other info..

Passport Canada was ok with that too..

The bottom line: The address, date, and signature of the photographer are ok....

Not your fault if American standards are different from Canadian standards...

Hope this helps you and your friend..Good luck with the rest of your journey too.

Warlord-Lol..I wish the Canadian passport photo standards were the exact same as the American photo standards....

Sad to say, they are still different..

However, there are a lot more places in the USA that do Canadian passport photos, so in that way it is sort of easier, I suppose...

Good luck to everyone in getting photos done for your Canadian passport...
