Title says it all, someone kicked our door in yesterday afternoon. i happened to go home at 12:45pm yesterday because i left my lunch at home, was there for 15 minutes or so, and by 1:48pm my husband got home and phoned me to tell me our door was kicked in and we'd been burgled.

it is truly a terrible feeling to be violated like that.

That's terrible. I hope they didn't take anything that had personal meaning to you two.

they did, they got some family jewelry luckily it was only a few pieces they were not able to find hardly any of it in such a short window but most importantly no one was home or hurt. of course my brand spanking new 18.5" laptop was taking some small electronics, some cash but more than anything the sentimental jewelry pieces and the violation of it all are by far the worst. they went through my mother's lingerie chest and tossing thinks that. ugh...i feel unsafe in my own home.

thank you for your kind word though it does help.

I am sorry to hear that. :( My home was broken into and robbed a few years ago. They were an organized bunch. They went through EVERYTHING of ours - underwear drawers, our closets, the kitchen cabinets, the fridge. They broke into our shed (they had brought bolt cutters with them which points to them having investigated our house before they actually broke in).

They stole almost all of my jewelry - my class ring, bunch of earrings, necklaces, etc. In total, about $16,000 worth of stuff was taken. But you're right - the worst part was the violation.

I can feel what you are going through.. has happened twice to us... also had 3 incidents involving my truck in the last 5 years... the new trick is to syphon gas from my tank at night... 2 tanks in a week caused me to buy a locking cap for Christmas... and I live in a pretty nice area...

Never had my dwelling broken into but don't most burglars have tools?

I am so sorry to hear about that. I have never been in that position but I can just imagine the violation you are feeling.

...i feel unsafe in my own home.

Buy a big sturdy door to replace your old one. Then buy a 12ga. pump shotgun.

That may not stop them from breaking in and stealing things while you're gone - but it'll go a long way toward making you feel safe while you're home!

omg...yeah they really really tossed my mom's lingerie chest yuck. i'm so sorry for you they got your class ring etc. losing something irreplaceable with sentimental value is horrible. i feel quite lucky that they didn't find my dowry jewelry. in my culture when a girl is born they start accumulating gold for you that you get when you get married, which i kept with things my family has given me like pendant that has been in my family for 302 years. i'm so glad they didn't find it. i would have been sick. but yeah we have learned a lesson and sadly had to move lots of documents and valuables to a safe deposit box.

how awful for you to have had a bunch of people in your home i can't imagine uggh. we are pretty sure we just had one burglar.

@ charles it's funny my mom had a wolf for years (sadly he passed away :crying: ) he was half mexican red wolf and half alaskan. he was 150lbs, now he would have had a burglar for lunch but given this litigious society we probably would have been sued for him getting bitten.

what a pain in the #######! yeah we live in a pretty nice middle class area too but learned the lousy gits who commit these crimes come from the 'hood to our area just for that. nothing like working hard for your life to have this happen. syphoning gas is a new low, when gas was so expensive in california i thought we'd have that too but i didn't hear too much about it. (i wish we could curse here.) :ranting:

I know the feeling, the total violation and am so sorry for your situation. The good thing is no one was home and got hurt or murdered.

I'm sorry about your situation, I'd be scared to death as well, I've always been very afraid of robberies and burglaries.
