Hello all,

This is my first post! First I must say thank you to all of you for the huge help this site has been on my visajourney... VERY AWSOME SITE!!!

My fiancee went to the embassy (Vientiane, Laos) on Jan. 6, 2010 to request her interview date. The embassy scheduled her interview on June 16, 2010!! She had talked to others applying for K-1 visa's and was told a three month wait was typical...

My question is what, if anything can i do to speed this up a bit? My fiancee has been told I should call the embassy in Laos and complain... I talked to people here in the states that feel contacting one of my Senators and pleeding my case will help!...

Any advice you all have would be appreciated!!..

Keep your chins up and enjoy the day, the turmoil of the absence of the one you love and this whole process is temporary!

Thanks

Nothing that I have seen will help "speed" up your package. My own wait was extended because the POTUS went to Turkey, messing up the schedule.

The Embassy can take their time to process the information, so I would suggest you sit back and wait.

(seriously doubt a Senator would be able to make a case, that is all ready scheduled, go any faster - it would be a different thing if it wasn't scheduled at all...)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

My fiancee is going there on the 11 to request her interview date. 5 months... wow, oh well, I guess. I'll let you know what our date is. I assume your fiancee already has her medical right?

Well, my interview date is set for June 21st, 2010. Does anyone know if I now need to have my employer rewrite me a employment verification letter and redo my I-134? I already sent off all the paperwork to my fiancee. I'm happy and sad at the same time. :(

There is nothing specific that says you must. I would. You will be well past the April 15 deadline for 2009 tax returns which means you will have (and they will expect to see) 2009 as your "most recent tax return". The I-134 should be done as close to the interview date as possible.
