Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Silver dollars aren't used in normal circulation. I doubt that. Could have been a susan b. anthony dollar, or a sacagawea dollar coin.

Yup. Most likely the Sacagawea was the one - was it yellow instead of silver?

Montreal: BEAT!!! Approved!!!!!

I've got Susan B Anthonys and a Sacajawea. I miss Loonies and Toonies.

I haven't seen a Zachary Taylor dollar yet - but I have visited Fort Zachary Taylor in Key West! :D

Sprailenes: Congratulations to the little guy! Wooohooo! Interesting that you mentioned that Ethan's previous teachers wanted to classify him as ADD... I was watching a PBS documentary of how little kids get put on medication because they are "uncontrollable" in school, and teachers/doctors dont try to figure out if its cause they are bored or prolly overhyped with overly-sugared foods, etc. Glad Ethan found a stimulating program where he can be himself!

Yeah I guess it's just one of those phobia things - I completely understand it - I have some myself! Just not needles. In fact, I had to have a lot of vaccinations as a child, moving to the tropics - I mean lots! I actually enjoyed them

As for appliance day:

Washer/Dryer - check!

Fridge - check!

So now just need a stove, not bad!

Good stuff! :star: Not bad for a days work!

Ethan made it on the honor roll again! w00t w00t!!

:D

Boom shacka lacka *slam dunks*

Awesome! Congrats to Ethan :D

 I refer to all dollar coins as Sacagawea's... I think I just like saying Sacagawea.

But don't feel bad Wyatt, I had no idea they existed either until I moved here. The light rail here in Denver dispenses change all in dollar coins. So you put a $20 in to pay a $7 fare and you get $13 Sacagawea's back. I like them! Reminds me of home.

And Marilyn... OUCH!! Good thing you didn't rub your eye!

yeah good thing..lol

so I was checking my hubster's credit report the other day and I noticed a medical bill that was sent to collections.. . A few years ago I had a lot of medical bills coming in and I am guessing this is a bill that slipped through the cracks.. ..

anyways my question is do you think I can pay off that debt using our HSA account (the account isn't active but we still have money in there that I use to pay off medical stuff, like lab work etc)

I've done that before... not a nice feeling.

Try eating bread? Let it sit on your lips and tounge, it will soak up the oil a bit.

Works for me anyway.

I also got an American loonie. It's pretty cool.

Lol...Yes, those coins do exist!....

I remember when I got a few from the subway station in Buffalo,NY after I had bought a ticket from a vending machine....

Thought it was a fake coin or something....

So I asked the maintence guy (lol..who just so happened to be nearby)...

What the heck that was....And remarked how it looked like a loonie..

Lol...Guess he thought I was loonie..when I mentioned about the loonie...

But yeah...he said that the coins were real..

My husband hates it though....And made me exchange it at the bank for an American dollar bill!

But I kept one of them to collect...lol.....

Personally...I don't like carryiing coins around either..

And yes, it is annoying in Canada to get $10+ in change/coins...been there done that...lol....

Would rather have an American $1 bill!

Sigh...Whatever happened to $1 and $2 Canadian bills.....(yes, they did exist too...I have a few of those...)

Lol..I see my paper money collection growing bigger, as the popularity of coins become more evident......

Antique paper money, collecting, anyone?....lol...

Ant

P.S. By the way...If any Americans (who don't know any better) gives a Canadian an old Canadian $1 and $2 bill......Be sure to tell them not to spend it!

P.P.S. I wonder how a Canadian $5, $10, $20, etc. coin would look like in the future....Would be pretty heavy to carry those around!

whoo hoo, our tax money was deposited tonight  so we are going car shopping this weekend..

it took less then a week to get our refund... the past years we have been going to an accountant and paying extra to get the "fast refund" but it never was shorter then a week.. usually it took 2 weeks or so
