When they draw my blood, I feel it! Then I'm woozy afterwards from loss of blood.

The needle didn't really hurt, but It just felt weird. They told me to keep squeezing this ball to keep the blood flowing and for the first several minutes, I felt like I had no strength in my hand. I really couldn't move other than a little squeezing in my hand. I didn't dare look down at the bag filling with blood, or my arm. It took about 10 minutes, and was terrifying for the first 7, It wasn't so bad after that. But I really wouldn't want to do it again.

My son passes out and gets sick after his needles. He doesn't cry or anything but right after his needle, all of the colour will leave his face and he'll just throw up and pass out. He tells me that he imagines all of that medicine going through his body and it grosses him out.

Yeah I guess it's just one of those phobia things - I completely understand it - I have some myself! Just not needles. In fact, I had to have a lot of vaccinations as a child, moving to the tropics - I mean lots! I actually enjoyed them

As for appliance day:

Washer/Dryer - check!

Fridge - check!

So now just need a stove, not bad!

I don't like needles. I don't LIKE NEEDLES. Eww.

I faint when having my blood drawn. I 100% have to be laying down to avoid doing so because my blood pressure usually bottoms out. It's fun.

Woo! Don't you just love the exhilaration of spending a lot of money in a day? It's ALMOST worth the dread realization the next day of all the money you no longer have...

You're a better person than I! When the Canadian Blood services ask if I want to donate blood, I scream, "NOOOOOO!" and run away, LOL.

I used to have a major fear of needles, stemming back to when I was seven years old and had several warts on my foot and one on my thumb removed. The doctor was HORRIBLE. No bedside manner, and apparently had no idea that a seven year old would be traumatized by watching him jab needles into the end of his thumb and be forced to watch a scalpel cutting away a large chunk of skin...

It was a pretty horrendous experience. It was made worse by the fact that my father was livid with me for "embarrassing" him by freaking out on the NEXT visit when the doctor was finishing up the job...

I was petrified of needles for several years after that. Fortunately I grew out of it.

This morning, I am going to face one of my greatest fears. No, i'm not going to go swimming in search of sharks with lazers, that is for another day. But I am, going to donate blood. I have a very serious phobia of needles and this has been a problem for a while for me. I have very deep veins in my arms, so drawing blood from there is not really a possibility. They generally have to take it from the top of my hands, or on my upper arm, which is painfull, in addition to my fear. But this year, they are offering baskeball tickets if you donate blood, and my wife loves basketball, so I'm going to try. It's 45 minutes til my appointment......

RobandMel-Wow....Great that you "gave the gift of life" and faced a fear today! Enjoy the basketball game, for doing such a great job!

Lol..I admit, I've always wanted to do such....but I kept on procrastinating and/or couldn't do such at the moment (pregnant, nursing, whatever)....

Who knows, maybe one of these days I'll actually give blood....You inspire me to do such RobandMel..... :star:

They offered ice cream last time..(in the middle of summer).....Is that enough of a bribe...lol.....

Did you both get matching bikes? Ya....lol, we did (not my idea, though)!

Reven-Lol....Lucky you! I'll have to get those someday!

Oh I can picture it now...Me and D (and Baby A in a tricycle behind us)....Riding down the winding country roads....lol....

One thing though..Don't ride a bike while pregnant...Not a good idea....lol.....

Happy bike riding after pregnancy though!

Minnew-Congrats on your new job!

Sprailenes-Good luck on your job search.

Not to worry, Ant! Hubby has already forbidden me to run, jog or dragonboat! I told him I climbed 9 flights of stairs today and he got on my case about hurting the baby. I'm very lucky that we're still having sex!
