The thing is, my wedding ring looks kinda funny on top the engagement ring. How are the two generally worn? The wedding ring first than the engagement ring, or vice versa? Or is it a personal taste thing.

Most gals wear their wedding ring first (on the inside) then their engagement ring--I think the logic is the wedding ring should be closer to your heart. Very sentimental eh?

I wear the engagement ring first, then the wedding ring because the engagement ring cost a hella more then the wedding ring and if the rings were loose and some how get close to slipping off, I'd rather lose the wedding ring first. Very practical eh?

The reason is, because the wedding ring is supposed to be closer to your heart.

awwwwww

So I guess my mom wasn't making that up. I always figured logically that the engagement ring would go on first, seeing as that is the ring you give your wife first

Funnily enough, that's why my wife wears hers that way (now that I remember it, of course :  ). It's because if the engagement ring becomes loose, she'd rather have it stopped by the wedding ring. The engagement ring is worth FAR more than the wedding ring...

I suppose that's true of most engagement/wedding rings - that never occurred to me, to wear it the other way around. I think before I did that I would have them joined, probably less likely to slip off that way.

Yeah, my mother did that.

I don't think my wife would do that though, because the engagement ring is more of a vintage heirloom, while the wedding ring is comfort-fit silver.

Woo, I managed to get my engagement ring off!

I wanted to see if my wedding ring would go on, and with a bit of soap it would. Not exactly matching with my engagement ring, but one of the rings is also 3 years old.... then I couldn't get it off. Ehehe. I just struggled for like 5 minutes trying to get my wedding ring off and so I thought that I may as well try the engagement ring, it came off too.

Maybe with them off I'll help my finger de-swell a bit. I think the engagement ring came off easier because the band is rounded and more comfort fitting, the wedding ring is flat on the inside.

The thing is, my wedding ring looks kinda funny on top the engagement ring. How are the two generally worn? The wedding ring first than the engagement ring, or vice versa? Or is it a personal taste thing.

amg i was wondering this same thing lol i feel like such a noob :P

My wife says it's supposed to be a certain way, but that she wears it the other way around from what the proper way is supposed to be. Of course, I can't remember which order she wears them in, so I guess I'm not really all that helpful now, am I?

:rofl::rofl:

@ huggles! Good luck! it's scary but at the same time so much fun to look around and stuff and imagine what it would be like when you own it!

Yeah, my engagement ring is worth more too, but it's also half a size smaller than my wedding ring... so I don't think either will be slipping off.

Cute reason as to why the wedding ring should be worn first.

Nice! I really wish I was buying real estate in the US. Gulp!--a condo in Vancouver now average $400K! Insane.

:wow:

So, I guess I shouldn't mention that we are looking at a brand new condo tomorrow, just finished, 1,100 square feet, new everything... for 96k? I'm not really sold on the condo idea, I think I would rather have a townhouse, but I'm willing to look. For new construction you can't beat that price!

We are looking for a place right now (may even have found one). Just a small place to get us out of this apartment and back to owning! I hate wasting rent money. We will probably keep it for 2 years or so then sell it.

It is a foreclosure and they have been great, in fact I think I prefer dealing with a bank owner rather than a 'person' owner, banks don't get emotional when you make a low offer

Yeah that's a good point! I always assumed that banks would be less motivated than an independent seller to get the property sold and gone in a quick manner, but I could be wrong. The bank may be more willing to let the property go for under value to just get rid of it.

I'm thinking the same thing as far as renting vs. owning. Honestly, we can buy a condo or a townhouse for a mortgage payment that is less per month than the apartments we were looking at. And this includes the monthly HOA fees... For double or even triple the square footage. It only seems logical to buy, and then sell in a couple years when we are in a better position financially and are ready to expand our family.

I accepted an offer 4 days after I put my house up for sale. Course it had to go through inspection and all, and I put the closing of the house to just before I moved; but each case is different. You just never know...you could find one soon!!

Best wishes!!!!

Thanks for that Joyce!! I feel a little better now. Hopefully we can find a motivated seller that wants to move the property quickly. There are a couple properties we are planning on looking at that are empty and not bank owned... so hopefully that means they need to sell it fast.

@ huggles! Good luck! it's scary but at the same time so much fun to look around and stuff and imagine what it would be like when you own it!

Thanks Kim! :) I sure hope so!!

As for the wedding ring convo, I have 2 wedding bands. It all came as a set and one goes on the bottom and one goes on the top of the engagement ring. It all just looks like one sparkly blended ring. But, I have discovered that If the rings fit you just right, they won't slip at all. I had mine sized 3 times to get them perfect. When you're talking about a few thousand dollars worth of sparkly hand wear its worth making it fit well... or so the jeweler says

$96K for a brand new condo? I can finance that on my line of credit! Vancouver's gonna make me broke...

We have a condo, and it has been fine, but we are out of here this Spring. Will rent it out and were buying a house. Will be nice not to have people so close!

I lucked out,my wife provided her own engagement and wedding ring, was her grandmothers, lol Which is sort of cool as she gets many compliments on the pair, BUT then she states it was her grandmothers, so I get no credit, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I have hubby's grandmothers set...which was welded..it is a unique design... the engagement ring has the large solitaire is set like a rose and the wedding band hassmaller diamonds set into a leaf pattern, with a stem of white gold...

we put a plain diamond band with it for our wedding band so technically...my rings go wedding band, wedding band, engagement ring....lol

but my mom and granny always said you wear the wedding band closest to your heart...because you could be engaged more than once...but you only get married once!! ( that was like yEARS AND YEARS AGO!!)
