Sorry to hear that you're still homeless, Krikit... you'll find a place that's for sure. and regarding the packing, can't you just say no? Or are you repaying a debt of kindness or something? IF it were me, and they just asked out of the blue, I think I would be edging toward saying no. I hate packing and moving too. I had about 3 breakdowns moving my stuff here!

Good luck to you...

:D

So I'm back in Canada to prepare for my daughter's wedding shower and to attend my friend's daughter's wedding. And I'm still homeless. <_< And now my cousin's husband just called to ask if I could come and help him pack up their house. (My cousin.... his wife.... is away on business.) I would just like to mention that I FREAKING HATE ALL THIS HOUSE PACKING!!!!!!! headbonk.gif First, I had to pack up my parents' house due to the renovations. Then I had to pack up my house due to the relocation. Now I have to unpack my parents' house (as soon as these freaking renovations are done), and then I have to unpack my house (as soon as I GET a house. dry.gif ) And just in case I haven't had enough packing and unpacking, I get roped into helping someone else to do it. This is truly the year from hell. mad.gif

Did anyone else just experience a strange "blip" on VJ? unsure.gif Or am I "special"?

No is like my new favorite word. I have been saying it all the time lately and I feel so liberated.

I know it's a faint feeling, but can't you feel a migraine coming on that will hit like a truck on the exact day that you're supposed to help move?

I have gotten good at saying No,lol Everyday work is calling for OT. $$$ is super nice, but the whole shidt it is go-go-go! 3 days a week is enough, lol But saying that, I may go in tonight! 1 feels guilty leaving ur co-workers short, BUT many of them do not do OT,lol Just wish management would get their ####### together and hire more staff!! Idiot director at last staff meeting talked about us being short, blah blah, then had the gull to say she didnt know know why our stats were dropping!! Every article I have read, has stated the better staffed on is, better the stats! Maybe this should be in the VENT section, lol Its just no fun looking ahead at the schedule and every day ur short, and u just know people are going to be calling out as well! The joys of nursing, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

No.

Hmm. I think I'm liking this! lol

Believe it or not, I have a worse time lying about it than just going there and doing it. I suck!

Yes, you are "special"!

I can't believe you agreed to help your cousin packkkkkk. Hi wife should come home from her business trip and pack up her own house.

Had I known all this I would have called you up when we decided to leave Florida lol

I was at the Dollar Tree yesterday when I saw these...

I looked at the package and it said "made in Canada"... I didn't buy them because I am not a big fan of maple cookies but I though it was cool to see them there

Today someone on the phone said I sounded like I was from California.

I guess I'm losing my Canadian accent... and I'm not getting a NY one in its place, LOL.

The dollar tree near our place is so sketchy. Everytime I go there with Varba he tells me guys stare at me and follow us around. I'm pretty oblivious to the whole thing, but he notices. So I avoid the dollar tree most times.
