When I go through files at work I am really surprised how many people commute from here to NYC. And then I hear some people even commute from Philly to NYC... crazy commuters!

At least you have a decent rail system there. I work with people who commute 80-115 miles per day, by car. I would go nuts doing that.

Yea I am pretty sure most of the people in Philadelphia commute by train. My husband says its 50.00 for a return trip, he has had to go to meetings up there... could you imagine doing that every day?

At work the ones I talk to go by car... by freaking car!! On the turnpike!! Through rush hour!! Crazy people! But I was just talking to one guy, who sparked the post and he said on a good day he get's home in 2 hours on a bad day he gets home in 2.5 to 4... are you flipping kidding me? You get home... you have to sleep to get up at 5:00 and do it again. I couldn't do it.

Remember Amanda's commuter woes? Girl had balls man. Trooper she was!

I know a few folks at my work here in Vancouver (mainland) commute almost daily from Victoria (island) by seaplane. Round-trip for the 40 minutes flight & motion sickness: C$150.00 :o

I couldn't do it. I am an anti-commuter... the thought of commuting just makes me think of so much.. price of gas, pollution, idling cars, urban economics, family dynamics... stuff like that.

so after no driving for the last year..i seem to be scared to drive without david in the car. dunno if it's cuz of the city, or what, or that i kinda know his car is going to fall apart soon, but i just feel nervous when he goes to hand me the keys to drive if hes not with me. i've had my licence for 10 years. been in 2 car accidents, one where my car was totaled and i bounced back fine from those. I just dont get it :(

I've always been very anti-commute. However, since I got married and moved to a nicer neighborhood, I like my neighborhood more than I hate my commute.

The planes flew out of Comox Marina 3 times a day too. I used to watch them take off, and return while I was at work.

Cost one way when they first started 2 years ago....$150 EACH WAY...

I just looked it up, and they've gone down $20...$129..each way....

*Which is why I didn't take it for my interview last June.. *

Yea my father-in-law rarely eats with his family because he doesn't get home until 7:00 - 7:30.

My husband is the same way. I guess thats the way they are.

Not me, my son and I sit down every day for dinner at 5:30 and talk about our day. I just think thats important for us. We have dinner routines. On Fridays we always go out for dinner at a fast food joint of his choice.

I went through the same thing when I moved down here Kimbear. Part of it was the transition from a small town to being in a big metro area, and then part of it was going from my older small car to my husbands full size newer car with a lot of power. I was afraid of getting lost, scratching the car, and being in traffic not knowing where I am and where I'm going. Eventually I got over it, but It took a few months to really become comfortable. It may sound weird but after I backed my husbands car into something, I kinda got over it

You'll get there! It's just going to take some time for you to transition. Maybe after being a passenger driving around the city more you'll become a little more comfortable with the area. Do you have a GPS? That really helped my confidence too. It's a lot harder to get lost when you have a GPS!
