I love the beach personally.

We go to a campground that's right across from a beach, it's so nice.

I love the beach...especially at night when all is quiet except for the sound of the waves hitting the shore.

Pizza is good too:)

how about we just call it Bizza?

:D

I like the water and swimming but I hate the beach. Lying on the sand tanning with a ton of other people. I'd wanna swim, build sandcastles, beachcomb for treasure and then have pizza. Or... bizza.

:D

Weird story:

When we were in Florida we put an offer on a house, it was in foreclosure. We had a really hard time getting an offer put in for some reason, the selling realtor would just not respond. We finally got a rejection of our first offer - $70,000 in March of last year. We put in a second offer (almost a month later) for $76,500 - after much back and forth over several weeks, including me personally contacting the selling realtor and having him tell me that he had told our realtor weeks before that the house had already been sold - we gave up on it.

So today I was looking through some files on my computer and I came across the offers, so I decide to look up the property.

What actually happened was that they sold it in August of last year for $45,000. The owners then resold it this past January for $135,000.

I knew all along that there was something up with this, obviously - but at least now I know it wasn't just me being cynical :)

I think I need some of the peace and quiet of VJ - even Off Topic - after this weekend/today (phew)!

I posted in Vent forum about the joys of Home Ownership. Well, the air conditioner guy showed up Saturday and it was the capacitor -again - the 3rd in 2 1/2 years. It turns out that the compressor is basically on its way out and burning up the capacitors before it finally dies. We can replace the compressor for $1500 or we can get a new unit. Due to the age of the existing unit and parts and coolant for it being phased out we decided to check out new units and so later on Saturday we talked with the sales rep. We had asked the serviceman what make they end up having to service the least so asked for prices for those. The sales rep gave us 6 different options - 3 a simple replacement air conditioner - the other 3 including a heat pump with the air conditioner. So, based on projected energy savings, and the availability of a State rebate and a Georgia Power company rebate (don't qualify for the Federal - need to replace the furnace at the same time to get that - grr) we are getting an air conditioner/heat pump installed next Tuesday.

The County Advisor for the University of Georgia Agricultural Extension Department was out early this afternoon to examine our diseased trees and yes, the apple tree has Fire Blight and is basically fully infected and cannot be saved. (In one week it went from beautiful and full of fruit to dead - this blight is fast). We will have to cut down and remove the tree as it will pass on the contagion to other susceptible trees otherwise. The fig tree - which is not supposed to get Fire Blight - looks exactly like it does have Fire Blight and the plant pathologist at the University is extremely interested in examining samples so the Advisor collected samples from the fig, pruned it back to below the diseased area (then I had to seal the pruning and spray it with a streptomycin spray ), collected samples from our pear trees - which he doesn't think is Fire Blight but some other type of fungal infection, and a patch out of our lawn also showing signs of a fungal infection. The results should be back the end of the week and we can decide them what needs to be done.

AND . . . the termite inspector was out today as well since our neighbours' have come down with an active infestation. The good news is that we have no termite infestations or damage inside the house. The bad news is that there are termite colonies right next to the foundation of the house on the exterior so it is only a matter of time. So, next Wednesday, the termite management company is digging a 4" x 6" trench next to the foundation around the house and drilling holes every 12" through the concrete pad in the garage next to the foundation and across our porch and patio and injecting or laying a layer of Termidor. The price was a lot more reasonable than I was expecting and it comes with a 10 year guarantee and an annual inspection. I now have to move all of the shelving away from the inside walls of the garage 2 ' - and there are two storage units and a fridge that we also need to move. I'll get those strong young termite removal crew to help me with those, hehe!

Then, tonight while eating a late dinner since Joe was stuck in construction traffic for over an hour on his way home, a fire truck pulls up in front of our house! We go out and see them running into our neighbours one over carrying medical equipment. A few minutes later an ambulance pulls up. It appears that the man of the household was experiencing chest pains. They loaded him into the ambulance, his wife following, and then headed off. After this Joe tells me that one of his co-workers that I met at a Christmas party in December died last night - he and his wife were at friends, he said he wasn't feeling well and went to lie down and when they checked on him he was dead. He was 32 years old.

Of course, none of my regular Monday chores got done today so they are all rescheduled to tomorrow. Next week looks like it will be very busy with the work on Tuesday and Wednesday - plus I have my annual physical on Monday and finally get my permanent crown replaced at the dentist on Thursday. I think I'll take the next Friday off! (and Ouch - I hate to think of our credit card bill this coming month!).

So, I am now ready to go off and enjoy some of that peace and quiet over in Off Topic - no way the drama there can compare to what went on here today.
