So. I am bored out of my mind in this place. Due to the commute, my husband is working longer hours, then passing out on the couch to make up for the lack of sleep. I am sick to death of looking for somewhere to live to pass the time so I have decided to go back to Canada on Monday. Only four more sleeps. Yay!

awww Hope you find a nice house soon. I really don't like house hunting either. Enjoy your visit to Canada though! :)

In LGG news, I am running like MAD here! I used to be a hard core runner -- like every day for about an hour or so and then when I moved to the area I lived in in TO, my motivation was robbed by living in a dirty, congested part of the city. Living here, with the clean and forest and pretty has brought back my motivation and I am running nearly every day again. I was worried it would hurt getting back into it but its' been a lot easier and it's made me feel very healthy.

AND... I got my green card in the mail today! It's SO cool -- not green though but I am very happy to have it and now I feel like I'm done waiting for a while with this stuff and then I can move onto ROC when it's time.

Enjoy your running...and congrats at getting the GC in the mail! :D

I just heard the loudest crack of thunder EVER. Seriously, that was terrifying. It sounded like a car crashed into the front of the house or something ridiculous...

I LOVE thunder and lightening. It's so funny to have has storms here these past few months. We hardly ever got it back on Vancouver Island. (although, yes..thunder can be pretty loud!)

Oh and I drove through Santa Barbara with Tim, and my friend from Fresno a couple years ago. Beautiful place, but sure does look expensive. I don't think I could afford to live there! Here, where I am in SC, I notice that homes that are for sale for about 250,000 would go for at least 100,000 or more back home!! Sure am tempted to sell this place and move!! *what am I saying??...I just DID move!*...

 you're crazy! Thunder and lightening terrify me for some reason.

It was so crazy! We had a big flash of lightening, that really loud crack of thunder and then it started hailing like crazy for about 10 minutes. And now the sun is coming out...

LoL, I get the same thing from my wife. She's from London, ON too, and its quite sad that we pay more in rent than the mortgage + insurance that her best friend paid for a 3 BR/ 3 bath house in London. :(

Tell me about it..i had a house in Hawkesbury, halfway between ottawa and montreal, and my mortgage was under 1k for a 3 bed room house two floors ranch style on 8 acres and my taxes were only 3k.

Here in north chicago, forget about it...i can't find anything for us that is cheap apartment wise, and takes our dogs. :( i mean ####### pet rent, and deposit for them and dogs etc etc..i dont have 3 k for a deposit..if i did..i'd put it towards a mortgage!! But alas..davids credit is just below avg and well as we all know..i have none../sigh

so a little while ago I got a message that they are ready to schedule my surgery... now I am feeling really nervous...

silly me was trying to find out recovery times for the surgery and I ended up reading these stories of people who had major pain etc after the surgery and there were only a few stories of people who had hardly any problems etc... but then I had to remind myself that people are more likely to post about a negative experience than a positive one...

also I was doing some research about the cost of the surgery at the different hospitals around here and most of them range from $13,000 to $20,000 :o , of course our insurance covers 90% of that so we pay only 10% plus a $150 copay... but that still adds up... I did find one hospital that is a bit farther away where it only cost between $5,000 to $7,000 and it has a higher patient outcome then the hospitals around here... I checked the affiliated physicians with that hospital and my surgeon is listed there but on my surgeon's page that hospital isn't listed.. when I call to make the appointment I will ask about it... I would rather pay 10% of $6,000, than 10% of $16,000 :P

So been a while again, but just some news to post....BROKE MY FREAKIN BIG TOE!

John and I were 'sparring' at TKD (non-contact...ha!) and we both kicked at the same time. I kicked his ankle and CRACK! I heard it, he actually felt it. :crying::wacko:

Funny, my big toe doesn't hurt as much as the index toe that I severely sprained and looks deformed. So I get to do the crutch thing for a little while. Good thing we just did belt testing and I already know my form for the next belt so I won't fall too behind :D

I missed it :( I completely forgot to bring my travel cup, even when I reminded myself to pick it up when I swung by the house earlier. Oh well, hope everyone had a some good coffee!

I AM in the burbs!!! Are you saying this is the cheapest they get?? It's like being in Canada! I don't want to pay Canadian prices in the US of A!! crying.gif:hehe:

Hmm I should have asked how much a mani and pedi cost there! And which suburb you are living in!!! In Columbia and Ellicott City, the prices tend to run between 10-25... but if you go to the shadier areas, you can get 8 dollar manicures... although I wouldnt want to go there :P

Oh no J&K!!! Hope you feel better!

And Marilyn, gosh it seems so stressful to know you have to go to surgery... but to have to do research to get the best price adds even more stress!

Congrats on the GC LGG!

darn it, the surgeon wasn't affiliated with the cheaper hospital ... so I went with my second choice.. I am not terribly fond of that hospital .. I was there for about a week a few years back and out of all the nurses I had only one or two that were nice....

but now I have to wait till tomorrow to find out my surgery date... and to top it all off she informed me that they don't do elective surgeries on Fridays so I have to get it on a Thursday.. which sucks because David has to work on Thursday and Friday and he can't get the days off either..

Oh hello fellow adjust-ee... well, you actually have a much harder task that I do finding a home and all. When you say go back to Canada, you mean just for a visit, right? Yeah. s'what I thought. wink.gif

Yes, I meant for a visit. lol. But I am not happy with hubby at the moment so I'm tempted to extend it. <_<

Have fun in Canada Krikit smile.gif

Thanks Huggles!

I feel your pain on the house hunting. We're not in the 'house' market yet, but even just apartments are ridiculous here.

Ugh. I'm looking for pretty much anything at the moment. I'm finding it pretty much impossible to find a home to purchase so I've got to look at rentals as well. crying.gif The prices are making me want to run back to Florida. I was saying to my husband that for the budget we're looking at to buy something here would get us a fabulous home on the water in Florida. NOT happy. mad.gif

awww Hope you find a nice house soon. I really don't like house hunting either. Enjoy your visit to Canada though! smile.gif

Thanks Joyce. :)

I am over in Dulles. $10-25?? :0 They are $40 here. mad.gif

I am angry today. mad.gif I was going to get my hair done but I don't think I'll have enough patience. I hate getting my hair done. lol. I especially don't like going to new hairdressers because I don't trust them. Can you imagine if I'm already angry and they screw up my hair?? There's likely to be an international incident. lol

If you go international on your hairdresser, please record it on video so we can all enjoy.

Hopefully tho, it will go fine.

You can borrow some of my patience if you need to.... Just not too much cause I'm spending the evening with my extended family. (The crazy side)

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

I'm getting my hair done today... with my son. Haha... such a 'girls day out' with my boy. I took him to the hair cuttery last week because he's a boy right so he doesn't need some fancy salon, and he looked at me horrified and said: "Mom all of these people leaving look REALLY bad!" and I could see he was scared. So we decided he'd be going to see my girl at this place in Cherry Hill. She's amazing so I am sure he'll be happy.

I just think it's funny, he's only 11 and already cares so much about his hair.

I went to the hair cuttery ONCE. They ruined my hair, they gave me the "rachel cut" you know that layered hair cut from 1994?? I walked out almost in tears.

The worst part is that I was trying to prove a point to my husband that I didn't need to pay a lot to get a hair cut... I left with my tail between my legs and went back to my regular salon.

I think it depends on the hairdressers Krikit...I go to Hair Cuttery near my house (Stone Rd and Braddock) and the ladies there do a fine job...I don't specifically ask for anyone...mind you...I've got a pretty straight foward cut...my hair is straight down to my shoulders with a few layers at the bottom. I dont think I'd have them do highlights or anything fancy....I'd find somewhere nicer for that.

My daughter goes to a girls in the Ulta salon in Fair Lakes plaza...she does a super job, good colour too.

Also heard these guys are good, although pricier http://www.alexandredeparis.com/ also near Fair Lakes.
