I remember at my cousins wedding, they had an open bar...... until 8:00 p.m.. There was almost a riot when they closed it and were charging $5 for a shot or a beer.

That's when a flask is your bff!

Open bar + LGG= fiasco like you would NOT believe.

I tend to try every single mixed drink known to mankind. I had a very bad experience with the Peppermint Patty one wedding.

Yeah.

Not good.

Yea I love open bars. I just love getting drunk and dancing.

When love shack comes on... clear the floor! I am so on it!

HURRY UP AND BRING YOUR JUKE BOX MONEY!!!

LoL, i donno why, but Fred Schneider's voice just makes me cringe.

Open bar is so much fun, unless you're going to a wedding for someone you work with. I can remember going to a wedding for a friend who I worked with and she invited our boss. Our boss got so smashed that her boyfriend got embarassed and dumped her at the wedding. The next morning at work, she summoned a few of us to her office. At first, she just wanted to know what she did the night before. She didn't even remember that her boyfriend had dumped her.

Do you have any clue at all what her issue is? Someone should just call her out on it.

In the last 3 years of our relationship, Ive rationalized why she doesn't like me. She is very shy and very insecure of herself and I'm super bubbly so I thought maybe I intimidate her. She has had very little interaction with non-white people, and I'm not white so maybe she doesn't know what to do with me. She is a super healthy, exercising, organic eating person and I'm fat, and she does not like fat people. I also thought maybe she is jealous that I have a great relationship with my MIL and pretty much my entire husband's family, but I dont want to feel bad about that. I have been told many times (by hubby's family members) that she is jealous of my relationship with my husband, but that's her fault for being in a relationship with a man who does not love her.

Anyway this year, after one final attempt to try to be her friend, and getting shot down for it, I said #### it. I think I vented about her last time and some VJ buddies PM'd me and told me what I needed to hear: that she doesn't like me. And I realize that there's no need to find a reason why, and since I don't like her either, I am okay with it.

It does make a lot of family events uncomfortable bec she is all mopey when I am there. And it pains me to watch my MIL try to be so nice to her even when the witch is treating MIL poorly. You are right, someone definitely needs to call her out on it, but they won't let me do it. My husband asked me not to confront her... and I promised him I won't unless she does something really bad to me directly. It is a tough position to be in because my hubby's family is really close, and we both know that by purposely avoiding her, we would be asking his parents to choose between us or her (them).

And Sprailenes, in a non-freaky, non-weird, non-homosexual, and non-perverted way, I find you really pretty. I dont know what your in-laws are seeing.

Good for you, Peachey-girl! Dont let the extended family bully you to how you and Varba want to celebrate your marriage.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Well that's her misery for sure. It's more sad for your brother-in-law to be stuck with someone like that. Now is the time for him to turn it around. What I imagine happening is someone will lose it on her and it won't be pretty. Like all of those feelings are going to come out. It's sad that people need to be that way.

Ask her to take some St. Johns Wort it's supposed to help with depression and it's natural. :P

Honestly, this woman sounds miserable and that's the best revenge, if you're seeking it. Imagine waking up every single day with a chip on your shoulder? Imagine being jealous and bitter all of the time? I mean we've all been jealous at one time or another... could you imagine being that way ALWAYS? Talk about insanity! I would drive myself crazy.

I hate the feeling of jealousy. Jealousy and regret.. worst feelings ever!

My husband told his mum to tell the WIL that she cannot spend more than 1k for the rehearsal dinner because she needs to save up for BIL's next wedding  Sad to say that she is making as big of a mistake as he is making, because if she is so miserable now even before walking down the aisle... well "forever" is a long time... and ending forever is very $$$...

I dont know if St. John's Wort will work on her though... unless she can get in a truckload

Peachey -- one night I was reading about seating charts from a bridal magazine, and how one should try to really seat people who like each other, etc. I asked hubby, "how do we seat WIL outside the hall???"

Some people are just malcontents. It's really quite sad. My MIL is kind of a malcontent, but I imagine a lot of her dislike for me is just because i'm not Canadian.

I will be a MIL one day and I am learning what not to do. But who knows... maybe my DIL will be ranting about me somewhere too. I sure hope not. I don't want to be the crazy MIL.

I have always been worried about my family. That is why, I NEVER introduced women I was dating to them. My mother tends to talk way too much about the absolute most embarassing things of my childhood. I literally had to hide home videos when I brought my prom date to my parents house for pictures.

I was really worried over nothing. My family already likes my wife more than me. But then again, that's not much of a surprise.

Dang, been so busy with work, baby stuff and immigration (going to Montreal in two weeks!) that I barely have time to drop by VJ.

Just wanted to say HELLO!

The best revenge to miserable people in your lives is to pay them no mind and live out your own life as happy as you can be. Doesn't even feel like revenge. :-)

My BIL just got into the University of Hawaii too... he's moving. My husband and I were both like: "Oh no she's really going to lose it"

I think to be a great MIL you really have to know when it's time to let go of your kids. Don't be overly involved, keep a safe distance and be there when they want you to be there but don't hover. What's most important is the happiness of your children - if they're happy then it's all that matters.
