Now, I thought it was the groom's family who made all of the decisions about the Rehearsal dinner as well as footing the bill. The bride takes care of the wedding.

I know! What upsets the MIL most is that of the 33 guests, the only members of her family are herself, her husband, hubby and I, the BIL (groom) and BIL's son. Everyone else is either her family and her friends. MIL can't even invite her dad to the event. MIL also offered to have the event catered at her house because it will still be cheaper than taking 30+ people to the restaurant. But WIL is having none of that. Oh and the MIL has already given money to contribute to the wedding! My husband is so furious.

We didn't even have one..we quickly went over vows where ppl will stand and went out to dinner..Parent in laws brought us to Olive Garden ( was my choice) and we had a nice dinner.

On the night of our wedding, my mom took us all to dinner to a local grill where hubby and I had our first date. There were maybe 20 people there but it was such an inexpensive place that the bill was not much at all! It was all about the company, the intimate post-wedding moment and not about the $$$ dinner. For our rehearsal dinner in '11, we've decided on a local Chinese joint that holds a lot of good memories for us... and even with a wedding party of 15+, we can still have 3 or 4 rehearsal dinners in the WIL's 1k tab :P

We had a rehearsal party at Dave and Busters. It was pretty much awesome! It was very us, and it took a lot of stress of the upcoming wedding off everyone, we just had a lot of fun. As far as how much it cost, I seriously don't know... Bill's parents paid for it, but they insisted. I originally wasn't planning on having one, but they thought that was ridiculous and completely unacceptable for some reason.

I kinda thing the rehearsal dinner should match the wedding. If you're having a fairly casual and/or "cheap" affair, than going out and having an expensive rehearsal dinner makes no sense. The rehearsal shouldn't overshadow the wedding. It seems like she's just testing your WIL to see what she can get, which is completely greedy and unreasonable. I see why you don't get along... she's basically a b*tch :P

Bon jour. I have drunk all the coffee so you'll have to get your own. :hehe:

Good luck house hunting Krikit! Something great will show up and you'll be so glad you rejected those other houses that were less than perfect!

Yesterday Bill and I spent the afternoon at Coors Field watching the Rockies game. The game started at 1 and ended around 5, so you know, the height of warmth during the day? And it was the warmest day of the year thus far. It was beautiful out and a nice day to watch some baseball, but dang, I baked like a chicken out there. I'm so totally red right now its ridiculous. I was wearing a tank top so now my shoulders, half my back, my chest, my arms, my face and the even tops of my hands are burnt. I didn't expect that in April... I'm Canadian tongue.gif

Thanks and ouch!

So you guys just need a helicopter then.

I just want to say that I AM SOOOOOO HAPPY TO BE BACK IN CANADA!!

Yay for Canada!

There were rumors that a smaller hovercraft-style boat could replace the original behemoth, but it never went anywhere.

The original ship was oversized for what it ended up doing between Rochester and Toronto, because they'd gone for a ship big enough to carry commercial truck traffic between countries. They never got all the appropriate permits and paperwork completed to do that, though, and the tourist traffic didn't make enough to keep the business afloat (no pun intended), so it was shut down by the new Rochester mayor, Bob Duffy, in 2006.

Booooo. Thanks for the background info, Pauley.

turns out..they deep fry the bloody cheese after battering it!!

puke3.gif

Well i almost had a buffet style thing for our wedding yesterday,

Oh my goodness. You got married Sunday?? Congratulations!!!!!

We had no rehersal dinner....nothing much to reherse when you're getting married in your own living room and the bride and groom are the only members of the wedding party :)

My parents took everyone ( Hubster, me, son, daughter, my best friend and her husband) out to dinner...we were all so tired because it was the day after Thanksgiving and we'd shopped, decorated etc....that we went to Moe's and had a lot of burritos and salsa. Very casual!

hey congrats, Kimbear on the wedding! Sounds awesome and kudos to you for doing all the cooking.

Krikit, no words but I'm sorry to hear that house hunting is a bummer and that you had to raise your budget by 100k I almost choked on my coffee when I read that.

Darkchilde. Your WIL sounds like a real b*tch. seriously. Not a cool person -- sorry you have to deal with that nonsense.

I had no rehearsal dinner, we only had 4 people at our wedding -- and I almost died when i read "keep it at 1k" I think our wedding cost that.

But that's us and well... to each his/their own.

Haha... we had no rehearsal dinner either. And our guests' "reception" dinner was $8.95/head plus drinks, as I'd persuaded our favourite restaurant to give us their evening meal deal in the afternoon since they were slow earlier in the day, and we were a party of thirteen.

It was awesome.

It was then that I also committed my first American crime... as they assumed the bride was of legal age when she ordered a glass of wine... Heh.

That was after already raising it 100k. :ocrying.gif:lol:

Upping your budget by 200k, can that still be called a budget - discuss! :hehe:

So we are changing our tv and internet to telus today, in fact Mr. Telus was supposed to be here 5 minutes ago. It's Mike's day off but we got up early to greet Mr. Telus. - he's not here. According to the person that booked the time, this was the only firm appt. available today, otherwise it would be an all day thing.

I just hope the installation goes well.

Gosh lots of buzz on the OT thread!

Krikit -- sorry to hear about the upped "budget"! Hope you will find your home soon :) *big hug* You can also look close to Baltimore *winknudge*

OMG Kimbear, I thought you were getting married!!! OMG Congratulations! Sounds like your reception dinner was fantastic and the menu is definitely better than my chicken or beef meal ;) OH, have you tried onion rings in tacos? There's a local Mexican place that does that, and though it sounds gross, its really good!

The WIL is a b*tch. I feel so vindicated now that her true colors are out, and people are noticing. I thought it was just me at first, and now everyone sees it (probably even the BIL). My husband told his mom to tell the WIL that she cant spend that much money because she needs to save for her son's (BIL's) next marriage.

Lgg, the witch's photographer costs -1.6k- -- and he's only taking still shots for 5 hours. She's flying him from TN on top of his rate. I dont think the BIL knows any of this...

Hope your Telus dude gets there TM!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

If your brother in law ends up going through with this marriage. The ultimate "F$*# You" to a bridezilla is to wear a red dress to her wedding. She'll hate you til the day she dies.

Hmm... why red dress? Is there some kind of hidden code about wearing a red dress in one's wedding?

I debated on finding a white dress at some point
