Yay for finding some place to live! Let us know how that goes.

Well, I still don't have a place to live. LOL. I am so darned tired of looking at houses. :dead: I feel sorry for our realtor because I'm so darned picky. I'm even starting to annoy myself! Since starting this process, we have had to bump our budget up by 100k. 100K!!!!!!! I am having little panic attacks about that, because we still have our home in Florida. I am having even bigger panic attacks about the fact that we have nowhere to live!!! OMG. helpsmilie.gif

We drove up to Rochester and back yesterday to get my son.

It would be super nice if they reinstated that Toronto/Rochester ferry. I heard they were thinking of it. Has anyone heard anything more? Maybe I'll google it. :hehe:

god Joyce, I so wish you lived near me! I would totally take you up on this! I would like to learn to drive really soon but my husband works all day and stuff. I suppose I could hire someone but I hate that, I enjoyed my husband's approach better and such.

I have to get this done and soon so... i may just have to hire someone. I wish it were you! I bet we'd get along great and accomplish that goal sooner.

:D

You could always take Driver's Education. The instructors are usually really good, and when I took it there were adults in my class. Sometimes it will even give you a discount on car insurance by having the driver's ed certificate.

Well blah krikit. Hey, none of those places you posted before you moved are options? That one with the big windows was spectacular!

Huggles, as for the job rejection thing - just keep in mind that they don't really know YOU - they only meet you briefly so they don't know how good you would be at the job, they can, sometimes, only go by that piece of paper. Now some employers are more intuitive and can see right away how brilliant you are, you will meet one of them and voila'!

We took a drive up to see that place! As we travelled higher and higher.... the road got narrower and narrower.... with hairpin turns..... and no shoulder..... and no barrier to protect you from the sheer drop-off..... and trucks and cars came at me from the opposite direction and I just managed to keep the car on the road..... I began to envisage a dark snowy night and impending doom. I turned around when the pavement ended and it turned into a gravel road. It was beautiful up there, though! lol. One of the realtors told me that her husband (an architect) designed a home at the top of the mountain for this one guy who commutes to DC. But he has a helicopter. Enough said. lol

Yes we will! :D

Good luck house hunting Krikit! Something great will show up and you'll be so glad you rejected those other houses that were less than perfect!

Yesterday Bill and I spent the afternoon at Coors Field watching the Rockies game. The game started at 1 and ended around 5, so you know, the height of warmth during the day? And it was the warmest day of the year thus far. It was beautiful out and a nice day to watch some baseball, but dang, I baked like a chicken out there. I'm so totally red right now its ridiculous. I was wearing a tank top so now my shoulders, half my back, my chest, my arms, my face and the even tops of my hands are burnt. I didn't expect that in April... I'm Canadian :P

So you guys just need a helicopter then. Actually that's got to be really strange, imagine getting ready to go out in the morning and getting in your helicopter lol

This may be more appropriate for the vent post but I'm not venting, just off-topic sharing...

My MIL informed me earlier that the WIL has announced that there will be 33 people in the rehearsal dinner. The witch-bridal party is only 2 people, her sister and my husband, and my husband might defect after he hears this story. Between her family and my BIL's family, there are 10 people. All the other guests are out-of-towners, and some friends who want to come. The witch wants the dinner at some fancy bar downtown where the menu is around 20-25 dollars per person just for the entrees. That does not include appetizers, alcohol, tips and if any desserts.

My jaw dropped. I think I might have 10 people in my bridal party, but we've decided we will go to my favorite Chinese restaurant where it's like 10-15 dollars per person. And apparently, when my MIL said that she wants to limit the rehearsal dinner cost to 1k, the WIL got upset and pouty.

And what I find the funniest of all is that the WIL is trying to keep HER wedding cheap, cheap, cheap -- it will be in a park with no coverage, and they are serving BBQ. She doesn't want to spend money on a cake and favors. Yet, she thinks she is entitled to $$$$ from others :P

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I just want to say that I AM SOOOOOO HAPPY TO BE BACK IN CANADA!! We got in at about 10:45 or so last night. Port Huron was a ghost town, and it was the easiest crossing I've ever had. So we're driving along the 401, and I see the one sign I've been waiting for: Tim Horton's! Sure, there's Timmy's in the States, but it's not the same. We pull in, and order (they apparently didn't hear my fiance say he wanted a coffee.. ) and once we got our order, I sort of looked like this:

Screw the triforce. Link has obtained Timbits. :D

Hope you all are having a good day! :D

Yea all about baseball season! I am so excited about the Phillies getting Halladay. He was too good for Toronto. :D

Quiet you. ;)

We drove up to Rochester and back yesterday to get my son. I'm so happy he's home. It's hard for me when he has to go to Canada, but I guess that's the downside of moving to a new country, you still have to share your children with family back home. :P It's very important he still go there though and visit my mom and his great aunties and uncles. We're going to go out today and get him some new hockey skates for spring leagues. He's very excited to be playing this season because he's on the same team as some of the Philadelphia Flyers kids.

Come say hi next time you're in Rochester. I don't bite, I promise. :P

It would be super nice if they reinstated that Toronto/Rochester ferry. I heard they were thinking of it. Has anyone heard anything more? Maybe I'll google it. :hehe:

There were rumors that a smaller hovercraft-style boat could replace the original behemoth, but it never went anywhere.

The original ship was oversized for what it ended up doing between Rochester and Toronto, because they'd gone for a ship big enough to carry commercial truck traffic between countries. They never got all the appropriate permits and paperwork completed to do that, though, and the tourist traffic didn't make enough to keep the business afloat (no pun intended), so it was shut down by the new Rochester mayor, Bob Duffy, in 2006.

Now, I thought it was the groom's family who made all of the decisions about the Rehearsal dinner as well as footing the bill. The bride takes care of the wedding. After that comment from the bride, I think I would tell everyone it is potluck and have it in your back yard! You can use the extra left over from the $1K to rent a tent! Seriously, though, what is it with some of these brides?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

To my knowledge it' supposed to be the grooms family that foots the rehearsal bill? But ya..thats kinda pricey just for a rehearsal...imo.

We didn't even have one..we quickly went over vows where ppl will stand and went out to dinner..Parent in laws brought us to Olive Garden ( was my choice) and we had a nice dinner.

i was worried about money etc..but i got an awesome cake from a little bakery here, and it only cost us 40$ basically a one tier 10inch wedding cake.

Well i almost had a buffet style thing for our wedding yesterday, instead..i decided to make it personal, and cook for everyone. Figured it's the best way to get to know ppl.though their stomach!

lol seriously, i love cooking and everything turned out fantastic. more than enough food even for the last minute addition to the amount of people.

I made a prime rib roast, candied sweet potatoes, maple honey carrots, portobello mushrooms in balsamic / merlot sauce, chicken parmasiana, yorkshire pudding w thick homeade gravy, i had my SIL bring these awesome spicy wonton poppers, a brocoli cheese bake, and davids best friends wife made 2 loaves of homeade cheesy bread.

Two days of cooking and preparing but it was worth it, no matter how many ppl thought i was crazy for doing it LOL :)
