I just wanted to say that it is official.. David starts day shift on Monday!!

he just has to work 6 hours on Sunday on his old shift to finish off his week...

it will be a bit of an adjustment for him at first because he will be having to get up for work around the same time he goes to bed now...

Yay Marilyn! You two must be so pleased - you've been wanting this and waiting for this for so long! Way to go :D!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

On a grumpy note, I definitely didn't get job #1. They contacted me today and said they went with someone who had a lot more experience, which I guess you can't really argue with. That stuff happens when you're a young college grad. I'm trying not to be to disappointed about it because I still have the other job opportunity in the works, and that's the one I actually wanted to be honest, but now I don't have that feeling of options like before. Oh well, I'm not going to let it get me down.

Sorry to hear that. I kinda feel the same way with BBWs; the manager said they'd be hiring for mothers day, but I think I still need the 2nd interview, and wouldn't some training be in order? I'm now guessing I won't be getting the job there. Oh well. I'm going to look more closely at doing an online course, from a school in Colorado. I just have to do research to make sure it's accredited. The course itself is only 4 months long. My kind of schooling... :P

And the baseball season is officially in full swing! I love this time of year :)

Ugh, I know. We could not find parking tonight with all the folks watching baseball today!

Sorry to hear about the job, Huggles. But just keep searching, cast a wider net, and something will come through. Have you considered doing volunteer work (if possible in your career) to bump up experience? I have a hard time getting in lab work because of that too :(

Grats Marilyn!!!

Well, technically I've been "volunteering" since like September, in helping my husband and his family business, but It's not on my resume. I figured that since my last name is in the title of the company, and the reference from the company would either be my husband or my MIL, it really wouldn't be much of an asset. I actually have tons of volunteer experience from high school and college, and I have a lot of them listed on my resume... Actually, the last interview I went to was more interested in my volunteer experience than work experience, so you may have a point. I think they liked the fact I like doing that kind of stuff. But, I'm also only 22 and just graduated from college recently, so I think that no matter where I go or what I try to do, that is going to be a little bit of a barrier. But, most people go through that right? Just starting out is hard.

I had an interview on Tuesday at a different company than the one I didn't get the job with, and I actually would prefer this job, so you never know. Maybe the other job just wasn't meant to be? And if I don't get this other job, than maybe there is something better out there for me, who knows.

So a while ago I mentioned something about crochet. I can't seem to get into it, which is a waste because I spent like 10 bucks on a starter kit. I get the hang of it, and I can do it pretty easily, but I can't seem to get myself to really get serious about it.

I just can't seem to get into anything. I just can't seem to find a hobby I really enjoy, and it's frustrating because I feel really unproductive. I dont even want to start hobbies anymore because I dont know if I'll like it and it'll just be a waste of money sitting around the house.

It is tough :( I got my work because of connections but I have also been teaching for the last 5 years... but as for a science job, which I probably should go back to because that is where my degrees are in AND because I don't think Ill find a ft-teaching job, I am having a hard time because of "inexperience".

Not sure what jobs you are applying to but if it's more related to your degree than to your work experience with your hubby's company, that might pose as a challenge. Also, when my hubby was looking for work right after college, he had a hard time getting his foot in so he worked part time for maybe 6-8 months, and that helped a lot as his work experience. Good luck!

Rhiann -- why not cook as a hobby? You seem to love it and it will keep you busy.

So it was right around this time 2 years ago that we entered the U.S. on our way to Florida. In a way it doesn't seem that long ago - in a way it does. Strange.

I remember following your travels. lol. It seems so long ago, now!

On a grumpy note, I definitely didn't get job #1.

Don't be down about it, Huggles. If there's one thing I've learned it's that things have a tendency to work themselves out so that you end up with the best situation for that time and place. In other words, there is something better waiting for you. It's also great interview experience to prepare you for the job which really needs you.

Today we are going on a Sunday drive to explore the various communities in our area. I am hopeful we can find somewhere to live. lol

Don't give up on trying new things. You might put it down for awhile and then find later you want to go back to it. :)

aww Rhianne...I'm sure you'll find something. Do you like decorating? Baking? Photography? Scrapbooking? Photoshop? Gardening? Sewing? Reading? Walking? Painting? Sometimes the simplest things we do, can become a hobby.

Years ago, I thought I needed to "do" all these women things..but truthfully... I don't like to knit, or crochet, or even needlepoint. It's just not my thing.

And don't worry about spending a little on a starter kit once in a while. You'll never know what your are interested in until you try :)

It was suggested to me once to put together a scrap book for Tim of our relationship. I had never done it before. Even though the first few pages were obviously done by a beginner, the other pages came out quite well! I love it now. It is a lot of work, but so rewarding. I want to get into making home made cards soon now too.

I made a scrapbook of the first years of our relationship and gave it as my wedding gift to my hubby. It was nothing fancy -- I just bought a plain scrapbook cover and the extra pages to go with it. I saved all our movie stubs, all the hotel keys we stayed in during our travels, all our cards to each other and all the letters we wrote each other while we were apart. I just put them all together, put a little note describing what was in the picture and the year that we took it. My husband loves it, I think he got teary reading the book :P I completed the project while waiting for my interview date. It was very therapeutic and kept me sane. And best of all, I probably just spent 30 dollars getting all the materials and I have 4 years worth of memories saved in the book :)

Wow! Ummmm not me. I spent lots of $$$$ When I was getting ready to move, I first thought I'd throw out all my supplies and start over...then hit myself in the forehead! :bonk: There's a lot of dollars wrapped up in that  So I actually sent down a box that had all the supplies in it. I'd kinda like to get good enough to maybe do it as a side line. Lots of people love the idea of a scrap book, but don't want to be bothered taking the time and all.

I understand it would be VERY sideline if I did do that... Probably make enough to just keep me in supplies!

I really, really love cake decorating, but it's horribly expensive to start up for a personal thing if you can't get a semi steady profit out of it. Hoping to find work in it again one day.

Oh well, I'll just keep looking around, I'm sure I'll find something. Everyone needs a hobby
