Well...our van's fan, *hey..I rhymed :P* wasn't working right...and we kept overheating when we idled, or drove slowly, so Tim took it to the shop today... ouch!! Going to have to replace a few things to the tune of $600!! This is a good shop to, so I know they wouldn't just be saying that. Oh well, at least it means we'll have a better vehicle again. Now..to get the power window fixed on the passenger side. The joy of 2nd, *or 3rd* hand vehicles...

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

I just finished watching a good show on Hulu.. it is called "Being Erica"... it is a very cute show...

I remember seeing ads all over the Toronto subway (including a veritable blanketing of Bloor-Yonge station) when that show premiered. :P

So it was right around this time 2 years ago that we entered the U.S. on our way to Florida. In a way it doesn't seem that long ago - in a way it does. Strange.

Today is Telus day - as in the switch from Shaw begins. They install the phone today and check the lines, then they set up a time to come and install the internet and tv. I am hoping this all goes smoothly, i'm not a happy camper when my internet/tv/phone are not working!

Hehehehehe! YOu are just simply rocking the american dream!

I got my SSN number in the mail today! One week exactly from the date we applied and my Green Card had production ordered on it a few days ago so I expect that in the mail possibly next week.

haven't really applied for any jobs yet as for me? I have to drive first. I suppose I'll be getting that done soon. Yay! Can't wait.

But I did vamp up my resume and am currently building my website so I can use that as a digital portfolio and well, baby steps for this girl unlike Wyatt who's giant stepping all over the place

Wyatt, you are my beacon for success, that's for sure.

I'm still amazed that I've been here exactly four weeks, and I'm already working, have my green card, SSN etc.

Nutty!

I sure do! I started watching Princess Bride last night... haha But there was actually a movie on TV that I was watching instead. lol

Unfortunately we don't have anything that we can use to stream movies from Netflix to our TV, so we have to watch those ones on the computer. :(

Yea all about baseball season! I am so excited about the Phillies getting Halladay. He was too good for Toronto. :D

Gah, the Phillies we're already too hard to beat :P

I'm actually a little worried about the Rockies this year... I don't know, I'm not feeling it.

Unfortunately we don't have anything that we can use to stream movies from Netflix to our TV, so we have to watch those ones on the computer. :(

I'm in the same boat and It's pretty annoying! Our Blu Ray player and our TV don't have wifi , and I don't really want to run a big Ethernet cord through the house just to get the feed  Apparently they are going to have streaming through the wii son, so I'm looking forward to that!

On a grumpy note, I definitely didn't get job #1. They contacted me today and said they went with someone who had a lot more experience, which I guess you can't really argue with. That stuff happens when you're a young college grad. I'm trying not to be to disappointed about it because I still have the other job opportunity in the works, and that's the one I actually wanted to be honest, but now I don't have that feeling of options like before. Oh well, I'm not going to let it get me down.

Sorry to hear that HB. Love our TivoHD!! They have now come out with Tivo Premiere, but not sure what its bells & whistles are. With TivoHD one can download Netflix (and I think blockbuster)right to their machine. I have ours attached to our wifi network, so watch most of my recordings on my computer

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
