What an amazing beautiful couple days! Spring is in the South! For this Canuck here though, feels like the summer temperatures back on the Island!

Tim took me fishing last night. I'd never done night fishing before, and I caught four bass, the biggest being 2.5 lbs. We where just casting off shore, as we don't have a boat (yet).

Sure is different from salmon fishing. I actually lost quite a few, because I'm still getting used to setting the hook. But I'm getting there :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Back in Canada this weekend :)

What a treat to watch Canadian TV news and commercials. Didn't realize I missed it so much.

Say hi to Welland for me! :)

Sounds like fun Joyce! I want to take Bill fishing so bad, he's never done it, and he actually seems scared of the whole concept... what a big city boy. It would just be totally hilarious

My parents just called, it's 25 degrees celcius where they are!

I'm in Southern Cali and it's not even that warm.

They're also putting in a soaking tub, it goes up to your shoulders.... so jealous.

Wow!! Don't parry too hard now!

It's been so nice and warm here this week, so I go out and buy stuff to start working on the yard and what happens? Serious temperature drop.

25 degrees Rhiann, really?! I'm jealous! You're from Ontario right?

I wear shorts all yr round here!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

It was a blast!! Tell him there's nothing like that bite on the end of the line...and pulling in a big fish!! Take him salmon fishing on the west coast...ohhhhh he'll get addicted! Make sure you check when the best time of year is. In August around the waters of the Island, you can catch those big 25-30 or more Spring Salmons!! *slurp*

I would love to go marlin fishing sometime. Probably never happen but wow..what a rush that would be!

Yep...been like that here last few days..although supposed to be a smidgen cooler this weekend.

It has finally turned nice here in Georgia as well. The trees are in bloom - finally! (about 4 weeks late) and the temperatures have climbed into the high 70s and low 80s. I haven't broken out the shorts yet but I am wearing capris and short sleeved t-shirts again which is nice. What is really nice is to see the sun - we have had so much rain here it is ridiculous (although not as much as in Rhode Island- geeze!). The garden ground is still saturated with a bit of standing water in it but another few days of dry temperatures and it will dry out. I picked up some collards, some yellow squash and some thyme to plant later this weekend - our thyme that had lived through 5 winters didn't survive this past one. I was looking for mustard and spinach but didn't find any and it is too early to put in peppers, eggplants, tomatoes and okra. I suspect we will still get some cold nights.

Traffic is outrageous today! Joe worked from home fortunately, but it was taking over an hour on I-75 to go from the airport access just north of us to the Speedway access just south of us - about 20 miles. I could see the traffic literally at a stop still when ever I went under or over I-75 using the backroads around the interstate. The Easter weekend corresponds with Spring Break for many schools and people are trying to head south for a break at the beaches.

Anyway, work in the yard and garden for us this weekend - including starting to remove a 20 x 20 foot stand of volunteer pine trees that are giving a haven to kudzu and choking out some of the redtip trees we have at the edge of our property. The stand of trees is really on our neighbour's property but they don't mind if we remove them and are splitting the cost. I really wanted them down before this, but it has been so wet and miserable that it just hasn't happened.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Today finally ended, thank god. It was sooo bad in sooo many levels. Spring break + holding classes on the day BEFORE spring break = NIGHTMARE

But tomorrow we are headed to DC to the tidal basin to see the cherry blossoms after my hubby gets off work. We are going to walk around the area (assuming we can) and then grab a nice dinner or so. While waiting for him, I'm going to make cupcakes that I promised my MIL to bring for her party for Saturday.

AND I am ESPECIALLY happy that hubby only needs to work for two more Saturdays!!! I finally get to reclaim him back from tax season

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I've gotten stuck in cherry blossom festival madness for two of the last three days. It's INSANE how many people are in the city for it! And I'll be in D.C. twice tomorrow too...and I'm sure it will be even crazier, given that it's a weekend, and it's going to be sunny. My wife said that the opera (Porgy and Bess) actually had to start fifteen minutes late last night because of all the late arrivals due to festival traffic...
