Guys? I have been wanting to bake bread since I got here and yesterday, I baked some oatmeal molasses bread that turned out like #######! Not only was it slightly underdone but it had a horrible, bitter taste to it. it was gross.

Today, however, I decided to try a little simpler recipe and made potato bread. It turned out awesome. I don't think it's the best loaf of bread out there and not the best that I'll make but I'm getting there and at least this bread is edible. i also made some oatmeal raisin cookies, any one want some? I guess while I'm not working, I'll open up LGG's Baked Goods or something.

:D

Good luck to you Wyatt and Huggles! Hope you both hear back and potentially get these or other jobs you want. Man, I feel like a slob, I have done NO job searching at all yet. Like zero. Zilch. Nada. But, I have to get driving and car thing sorted out first so... yeah.

I am going to start looking into freelance stuff soon and see if/what I can drum up.

But good luck to you guys, my fingers are crossed.

:D

Speaking of jobs...I'm just about to apply for a job that fits me to a T. It seriously does. Not only am I perfectly matched from an administrative standpoint, it's also a job where my musical background is a major benefit. It's out in Reston, which is about twenty miles away...but the job is really perfect for me. I'd gladly go the distance for it if I get it!

Fingers crossed...

Marilyn sorry you're still not feeling well. It does start to drag you down when it goes on and on. I hope you get some resolution soon!

Soooo I just got back from a job interview. I think it went well, but it seems like they're interviewing a million people. He said he'll call late next week if they decide to do a follow up interview, so I just need to wait I guess. I'd be surprised if they didn't want to do a second interview, but we'll see, you never know.

 Sounds like my standards for baking. Actually I have not burned one batch of baking since I arrived. I think it is the gas oven; I'm having great success with it.

Hi all, just stopping in to say HELLO. Because I just know you've all missed me.. :P

Going to Baltimore tomorrow to bring my mom to the aquarium.. I could stand and stare at jellyfish all day long.

My moms having a real good time though, she loved D.C. and couldn't believe that you could just walk into the museums. So ya... good times.

Yep just walk right in--thru fort know like security, lol But it is great that most are free. Spy museum is 1 of my favorites, but it does cost to get in, but well worth it. Crime and punishment is suppose to be excellent to.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ahh...but bad is bad..whether you're a fussy eater or not!! You should have seen the first time I tried to make bread..I didn't realize how hot the liquid, ( can't remember if I used milk or water..lol) should be...so the yeast didn't activate, and the bread didn't rise. Course, I didn't know that at the time. I just thought it was supposed to be dense like that... Wow...gave me and my late husband...um....stomach problems...

That is so exciting Darkchilde. I can't wait till we start renovating here. Tim's house is sad, sad, sad...

Sounds like a wonderful time. I was so happy to spoil my son and his fiancee when they came down here for the wedding last fall. Had to take them to Myrtle Beach, and one of those fantastic dinner shows where you eat your entire meal with your hands only! I really liked D.C too, when we went there on our honeymoon. We have to go back. Too many museums to see!!

in other news I am actually feeling better now then I was earlier... my nose is still stuffy but I haven't had any nausea today which is good...

That's good Marilyn. Glad you're almost over it. I hate being sick..

So when you coming to Amish Country??

In other news, Varba and I went and looked at some houses yesterday and absolutely fell in love with one. It's 2400 sq feet, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath. The only downside is that there are 6 chicken coops behind the house (but also some cute goats!). The house is priced $50,000 below it's market value, and is only about a 10 minute longer drive to Varba's work.

I (and other candidates) obviously didn't get the IT manager position because it got reposted, That position has been reposted threes times over the last two years! I would have appreciated an FU letter or phonecall. Me thinks I got eliminated because I stated my salary expectations to be $80K+, which I know is the max of their salary range, but I can't accept any less.

(I hate using this word but...) Whateva!

I'm done job hunting--staying put at my current job for now. :)

Are the chicken coops on your property and removable? My aunt used to raise chickens and they stink something fierce.
