And if anyone is near the DC area and wants poutine, try Jimmy's Old Tavern in old town Herndon.

Just ask for extra gravy and cheese (they actually use curds). It's sooooo good :D :D

:( Wish I had known that when we were there on our honeymoon....That was in September. But we do plan on going back someday. So much to see!! When Tim came up to see me, we went into this old fashioned British style restaurant in Victoria, and they had poutine on the menu. So of course I ordered it..and they used cheddar cheese!! It was ok, but not what I'm used too. Tim didn't mind it, but then, he's never had good poutine before

I worked for Zellers once, and the poutine there was pretty good! They order the cheese curds from Montreal.

Good morning all, thanks for the coffee Carla!

Well today I start looking for accomodation (read: I do not want to live on the street).

We basically have 3 weeks to find some place to live. I suspect they would let us continue to rent here month to month - well I mean they offer it (for an additional $100 a month), I just don't know how kindly the building manager feels towards us

Oh and they are desperately looking for a new maintenance person here, if anyone is looking for a job in Calgary!

I always think it's funny when there is a post like, hey, how do I get work authorized after I enter on my K1 - and they get a reply like - when you apply for your AOS you also apply for your EAD but blah blah blah I-94.

You can almost see the person sitting there

Phew. I think that took me an hour and a half to catch up. Good morning, everyone!! :energy:

Good luck on your house-hunting, Trailmix!

I have some cool news! At least to me...

Awwwww. That's aweseome, Huggles. Congratulations! Can't wait to see the pics! lol

Soo.. my Gramma and Dad are awesome. They offered to pay for the sleepers from Chicago to Florida. No weirdo interaction for me! :D

Oh wow. That's awesome too! Make sure you take pics! I think that would be fascinating.

I'd be more terrified myself, except I get motion sickness on them. Peachey introduced me to this wonderful stuff in Canada named Gravol (works sooo much better than Dramamine) and now, I don't have a care in the world while I'm flying! Nor do I puke my guts out, win/win!

Gravol is awesome. I cannot live without it. Not too impressed that I have to import it now, though. lol

I thought Gravol and Dramamine have the exact same medicinal ingredients. I use it too to fly and found they both work the same for me. Interesting that you get a different effect.

They're completely different. Dramamine scrambles my brain and does nothing for me. Gravol is my friend. :luv:

Ooh. We're looking at getting a bigger place this Spring too... Falls Church is a possibility... How's the commute into D.C.? How big is the condo? Is it a highrise? How much are you thinking of renting it out for? Any VJ discount? :P

Oh dear god that just reminded me that she's arriving in 3 days. :crying:

I sympathize, MrsCat. (F)

On another note, my friend want's a ring that adds up to a 6 month salary. Maybe that's why she's still single.

But if he only makes 3k a year I'd be pretty ticked. lol

What I will definitely miss is the different kinds of fruits I have access to in Toronto. I cant find good mangoes or star fruits or lychee in Maryland :( And if I do, they are sooooooo expensive...

Ugh. My husband used to live in Maryland and I would get so depressed when I went grocery shopping. :(

It's damn good. My first game was on the easiest level. I opted to use the Spanish (Queen Isabella), and I won by a "Domination Victory", which required the capture of all four foreign capitals. It took about three or four hours overall, and was fairly easy. My second game was on the next hardest difficulty, and I decided to use the Indians (Gandhi). I really wanted to have an entirely peaceful game, going for a Cultural or Economic Victory, but the other nations kept waging war on me. For most of the game I really thought I wasn't going to win...but I'd happened to learn how to make tanks long before any of the other nations did, and happened to stockpile them on all my cities. When it looked like the Romans were going to win the game via a Cultural Victory, I made a mad dash for their main city (which happened to be Syracuse, rather than Rome) and sacked it, thereby taking some of their "great people". From there, I was able to reduce the power of the Germans and the Mongolians, and ultimately won a Cultural Victory myself. THAT game probably took about ten hours, overall...but one of the REALLY nice things about a DS is that you can simply close it up and put it down at any point, then open it up again without having to reboot it from a menu screen etc.

Oh man. I can't believe I just wrote a long paragraph about a game. This can't be a good sign. :(

It is a sign of the fangs of addiction. Just go ahead and give in to the dark side.

Yeah...yesterday I drove around to a couple different stores, looking for used PROGRAMS (I don't want to call them "games" dammit!) that might strike my fancy. I also just discovered yesterday that Nintendo DS also plays older GB Advance programs...so that really opens up the options!

Just don't start playing Pokemon and you'll be alright. Those games are soooo addictive (but so fun!)

Yeah, I think I'd throw myself off a bridge before I resorted to Pokemon.

No offense to Pokemon lovers of course...it's just SO contrary to the rest of me!
