You know what bugs me most about them? Their constant "breaking up" and then getting back together.. it's getting old. I think Rivers Cuomo just likes the attention. Also... all of their songs sound the same, so if liked one song, I may love them all, but I don't. I had to sit through them once when they toured with the pixies... I wasn't a happy camper.

I love their music, but their fans at concerts and message boards are quite loathesome. To put it frankly, their hardcore fans are hipsters. The kind who watch The Hills on their iPhone in the middle of the concert

I want a turkey club sandwich. Just thought i'd throw that out there.

Yea... their webmaster for their fan site and message board is actually from Toronto - HUGE DOUCHE!

I remember when they opened for the Pixies, after weezer was finished, a good quarter of the venue left. I was like: "Whoa ignorant much, without the Pixies there'd be no weezer, show some respect you dumb arses!" :P

Wow, that would irritate me. Only time i've seen anything like that was at a Jesus and Mary Chain concert. The opening act was Nick Cave. I can remember people shouting and insulting the emo goth kids as they were leaving. When the main act came on, the lead singer started off with "So, we got rid of all the whiney little vampires right?"

Nice! haha

Omg that also reminds me of Lollapalooza 2005 before the Pixies (haha Pixies always come into play) and Perry Farrell came out on stage to introduce them and these girls behind me were like: "Who the hell is that?" And I said: "It's Perry Farrell!" and they looked at me and said: "Who?" and I said: "Janes Addiction, Porno for Pyros" and they both shrugged so I said: "Also the guy who started this whole festival!" Idiots.

That is exactly what used to annoy me about lollapalooza. I went to the first 5, but it got kind of lame after that. I found myself in that same situation far too many times. The first year that they held lollapalooza still is one of the best concerts i've ever been to. Nothing beats the expression of an Ice Cube fan listening to the energy of the butthole surfers playing and vice versa. I think that vibe was lost after the first couple of years.

Ew. Just ew, MrsCat... I was going to get some lunch but i think I'll wait. I was thinking of hitting you up for a crumpet to be honest.

Have a good trip, to the Toon, Flames! That sounds like fun, actually -- I don't like Tim hortons but I love me some Second Cup, I tell you...

:)

Can anyone give me a brief lesson on the multiquote thing? I tried to quote flames and MrsCat but failed...

Ugh, why would anyone clean an ultra dirty toilet with rubber gloves that have a feather boa trim?! Seriously, if you're gonna put your arm down there, do you really want cling-ons to the feathers. :dead:

I am bored. Chris is working nights and the cats don't feel like tea and crumpets. . . . . .

Yea I went in 1994 to see the Pumpkins and it was a lot different than it is now. Now it's staged in Chicago, and its just super expensive, extremely commercial... but the beers are cheaper there than they are at Virgin fest. :P

I've got something I'm struggling with personally, and want some advice:

I'm happily employed as a senior IT business professional in a government agency for 3 yrs, good job security and benefits. Anyhoo, I'm starting to mature in this position so my eyes roved around the net back in November and found a job opening for an IT manager position at my old employer, a financial institution. If I get this job, it would be a job promotion, about +$10K increase in my salary, plus similar employment benefits I'm getting now AND banking benefits. I applied in early December, am confident and fairly qualified. All this before I found out I was pregnant.

Well, they just called me today to come in for a job interview next Wednesday. I agreed to go in but in the back of my mind, I think I'm gonna decline the position if they offer it to me. I dunno...

Here's the list of Pros and Cons for taking on the new job:

Pros:

- management experience on the resume

- higher salary

- competitive employment benefits

- banking benefits (no service charges, staff discounts on services, lower interest rates on loans, favorable currency exchange)

- reacquaintances with old coworkers

- shorter commute

Con:

- short employment time before 12-month mat leave & possibly immigrating to the US (I say this because it's not 100% certain I'll be immigrating either. If hubby finds a great job in Canada after he gets his Canadian permanent resident card, HE'LL be the one immigrating to Vancouver instead of me)

- concern about the new working relationship with new boss and colleagues (both are men)

- stress of new job and leading a new project

- not being able to pass the 6-month conditional period due to pregnancy (I know this would be discrimination but I'm afraid it will still happen)

- possibility of not having the job to come back to after mat leave

Question: Knowing that I'll be in mat leave in August 2010 (assuming all goes well)...and the possibility of immigrating to the US during or after my 12-month mat leave, should I continue to pursue this opportunity or let it pass?

Life has kept me away for a while but I'm back on VJ briefly!..and wow, new look! I know, I know...old news. Anyways, an update on this opportunity and a vent! How long does it take for them to hire the manager? Geez, it's been five months since they first posted the position! I applied back in November, had the first interview with the hiring manager in January, had what I thought was the inevitable job offer from the HR manager (but it turned out to be...second INTERVIEW!) a couple of weeks ago and now I've got a noticeable 4.5-months-pregnant baby bump! SMH, I think I'm ready let this opportunity go and withdraw my application.

I don't know why, but the phrase "baby bump" just makes me cringe.

All those multiple day music festivals are getting out of hand with the commercial sponsors etc. I think Coachela is finally caving in on that too. I really want to try to go this year. I haven't been in 3 years now :crying:

Wow...sounds like me, and I only applied at Bath and Body works!! I had my first interview in the middle of Feb....and have gotten a complete run around since. No one seems to know what's going on. I'm guessing I'm to have a follow up interview, but haven't heard yet...and all this for a job that might only be 8 hours a week to start!

Dang! I don't remember the old VJ being this slow and difficult to post. Definite turn off. And why does my edit window cut off at the end? (grumble, grumble...)
