That sounds like an amazing day Marilyn!

"So we drove to Malibu.." I mean that's awesome to me!

Malibu is so amazing.. it really has a laid back feel and the ocean views are so incredible...

we took the scenic route through the Santa Monica Mountains. it was this little two lane highway that never stopped curving.. I got a little car sick going through there...lol but the views were amazing....

how did you like it?

the hubster had the shrimp po boy and he loved it...

mmmm.... you're making me hungry! lol

that's sounds delicious.

10+ years ago I rented a car from San Fran and drove down to Monterey. It was beautiful!

I loved walking around the piers in Monterey.

I want to do something like that with my fiancé when I go back.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

LA gets a bad rap a lot of the time but there really is so much to do and see around here....

and all the food choices are pretty awesome too

I (L) L.A.

Seriously. I'm ridiculously excited to be moving to D.C. right now, but if my wife and I decided to move somewhere for some reason, L.A. would be at the top of my list. I spent a few months there back in 2001 (before 9-11, back when people still liked Bush) and hated having to leave. I drove down the coast a couple of times too, through Ventura, Santa Barbara etc., and they're gorgeous little cities as well.

I enjoyed Santa Monica a lot when we went. I'd love to go back during the peak of the summer, I bet its full of life. We stopped by for a few hours when were were in So Cal for a NASCAR race in February of 2008. It was chilly and a raining but still amazing!

This may sound silly, but I'm sort of worried.

I'm sure everyone here knows Sara, the one who waited 2 years for her NOA2, her profile says her visa journey is done and no where I can find that she got approved.

I've been following her pretty much ever since I got here, I just hope it hasnt ended sadly for her..

I forgot about her.. I wonder what happened. Hope she had a happy ending...

I thought I remembered reading that her visa was approved not too long ago. It was posted in the MENA forum. Hope I am thinking of the same person.

Hmm, ok reading back through her posts - they were put on ap and things may not have gone well from then on. I hope for Sara's sake they have - she is one of the really nice VJ members. It doesn't sound promising though without an actual update on the visa, just the words ' journey over'. :(

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Wow sounds like everyone had an interesting couple of days: learning to crochet, taking a 13 hour trip just for coffee, going to see a movie I was going to see but I am unsure now, driving to Malibu!

Varba and I had our "engagement" photos done today. We got to the photographer's studio and he just pounds us with immigration questions. I guess he met a thai girl and is going to propose to her soon. He wanted to know how to get her to the USA. We defunct some of the myths he had heard and explained the process. We also determined that they're best route would be a CR1 Visa. We kindly gave him Visa Journey's website and answered his questions to the best of our availability.

Really, he asked questions for half an hour. We should get a discount on our wedding photos for all that work!

So Varba decided to have a guys night tonight. I drove down to Baltimore and had a nice dinner with darkchilde and her hubby. I was gone for 5 hours and the guys are still here. I'll be spending the rest of the evening upstairs I guess!

I just totally succeeded in making a row of single crochet stitches!

This morning I was yelling at the yarn because I was pissed off but now I did it :D

... now I just need to figure out how to go back the other way without having to switch hands

We saw the movie The Box earlier.... after we watched it my hubby put it this way, "it was kind of like a extended episode of the Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits"..

We then saw Old Dogs... it was a cute movie with a few funny moments that had me laughing out loud, it could have used more of those though...

John and I passed our first belt test at TKD yesterday :D

I wasn't sure he was ready to take the test early, but he practised and practised and he did really well!

Can't wait to test again :P
