My husband got a letter calling him for Jury Duty on April 5th.

I wonder if he'll get picked by the lawyer to do a case.

Did he get the letter that he has to report to a courthouse, or just a letter saying that he has to call in the night before to find out if he has to go?

He had to call in today, then he has to go on April 5th to see if he's actually going to be picked to be a juror or not.

I find it strange that they'd do that, but whatever floats their boat.

If he got called into either Downtown L.A. or LAX Courts, he'll be there all day, and he has a better chance of getting selected for a trial. If he gets assigned to one of the smaller courts, it usually only lasts until lunch before they determine if he will be sent out for a jury pool selection process or sent home.

i find this so funny.. so every few months the hubster gets his blood work done at this hospital and every time he does we get a bill for $1.50... :P

why can't the insurance company cough up that extra $1.50?..... I am sure the paperwork costs more then that :P

He was assigned to a local one, so that's good to know.

I'll tell him.

LoL, tell him to bring a PSP/Nintendo DS, and load up his iPod with movies. It's boring, the seats are uncomfortable, and the computer terminals they have there have highly filtered internet access.

Congratulations, Sprailenes! Excellent news :) :)

Marilyn: when my hubby got a letter for jury duty he had to call in to register and the letter said his jury duty was for 5 days whether he got called in or not.. we had to call each night to see if he had to go in the next day but he never had to...

Joe got called a year ago for Federal jury duty as well. His duty period was for 2 weeks. He called in every night the first week and didn't have to report - he wasn't so fortunate the second week. He had to go in and was selected and they started to hear the case that day. I was concerned it would be something like murder or drugs or something horrific but it turned out to be a construction contract dispute between a sub-contractor and the contractor. It actually lasted 2 weeks and Joe enjoyed the experience. hehe, they ended up finding both parties guilty of violation of contract so while each were expecting a windfall at the expense of the other party, the 'settlements' virtually cancelled each other out.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
