Thank you!! I'm not too worried about it..but it still made me go, ''What on earth! I swear I locked this.'' I live in a pretty decent part of Calgary and if all else I have a angry German shepherd that doesn't take kindly to strangers.

I hear ya!! My dog was part pit bull, and she had a good bark when someone came to the door. *Course all she'd have done is licked someone to death, but I wasn't going to tell them that!*

I'll know sometime next week if I have a job at Bath and Body works!! Oh boy what a store!! It's not on the west coast yet, so I never heard of it. And the hours are just what I wanted...

*crossing fingers, toes, and eyes* really hope she calls with good news! smiley-vault-character-009.gif

Happy Birthday Bern!

Has anyone heard of the sybaris spa resort ? David really wants to go their for our "short" honeymoon. From what i'm reading and seeing it looks very nice but oh boy the prices just for a 2day getaway! And when i look at the website i start giggling like a ittle girl and my face goes completely red from blushing LOL.

hmmmmm sounds like fun!

I sure get a lot of requests from people to buy stuff off of Amazon because so many things don't ship to Canada. I think I know the entire post office on a first name basis by now because I am always sending packages up there.

I just got another message from someone asking if they can send me something and if I can ship it to them... I should start charging labour fees. :P

Donne moi une poptart!

Can someone advise me on what the best phone card is for calling Canada? I don't have free long distance on my phone line anymore, and I know there was a topic on it at some point. I know there's Skype, but with my husband always out on the road, that's not going to work.

08/25/06 - 08/08/07 - K1 timeframe from mailing the petition to the NSC to K1 approval at the Montréal Consulate

08/31/07 - Réjean makes the big move to the USA

09/22/07 - MARRIED!

10/09/07 - Réjean gets his SSN

Adjustment of status:

10/26/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD/AP

11/23/07 - Biometrics appointment

12/14/07 - I-485 transferred to the California Service Center

12/28/07 - EAD approved!

01/07/08 - EAD received

02/08/08 - GREEN CARD APPROVED!!!!!!

02/16/08 - Green card received!

*headdesk*:

01/02/09 - Réjean loses his wallet containing his drivers license, Social Security card, and green card

02/04/09 - Our best friends bail us out by giving us the money to file for the replacement green card!

02/12/09 - E-filed I-90 for the replacement green card along with the $370 filing fee (including biometrics)

02/19/09 - NOA1

Actually, I just found the thread. Looks like pennytalk.com was recommended. This is exactly what we need!

It's my 30.5th birthday today! I was born on August 19th, and turned 30 last year...so that makes me exactly 30.5 today.

Anyhow, speaking of phones...my wife just changed her cell phone plan yesterday to a family plan, and got me my VERY FIRST cell phone. Yep...I went 30.5 years without a cell -- totally by choice -- but now, alas, I'll have one. The main reason is that she doesn't have or need a land line, and I really don't want to be relying on one cell between the two of us when I get down there. Also, it will be very convenient to have a cell while I'm driving across the continent next month. She's mailing it up to me today.

Two weeks from right now, I should know whether or not I passed my immigration interview... :clock:

Lol Congrats on the half birthday and entering the age of technology. You'll be texting and crashing into people while driving in no time like most americans

Haha. Yeah...it was never an anti-technology thing for me to abstain from having a cell...it was more of a privacy thing. I enjoy being able to drive my car, walk through a mall etc. without being interrupted. I know one can always turn one's phone off, but that's sort of considered rude by most people. Oh well. I'm sure I'll appreciate the convenience of having one.

I miss the days of pagers, when it was so much easier to avoid people

Now you have to be so much more creative to duck someone's call.

Funnily enough I DID have a pager for a short while. I got rid of it shortly afterwards when I realized that if I got paged while I was driving, I'd feel compelled to pull over at the nearest pay phone and call the number back. :bonk:

Good morning all.

Well I haven't heard from the lawyer's office this morning so I am hoping that means the bank managed to rush the documents to her and therefore we will be able to take possession of the house on Monday.

Was this house a foreclosure? We had a lot of problems with the bank supplying the paperwork too, actually went to closing and signed everything and they didn't show up. We had to wait about another 3 to 4 weeks for everything to finally get pushed through, terribly frustrating lol

It is a foreclosure - but this is Canada

Yes, there was no question about them getting the paperwork to the lawyer, it's just that the bank paperwork wasn't signed until yesterday morning - so she (lawyer's assistant) didn't think the bank would be able to have it on her desk by this morning, however she called me and yes, it was there! So that's all good :)
