well according to google about 30 minutes but it could be an hour or so with traffic...

right now I am about 15 minutes away but it sometimes can take 40 minutes or so to get to work

Oh that is a cute house Marilyn! How far is far?

and the times I leave to get to work and come home are high traffic times

Just got back from house hunting. We found a place that is great, fully new appliances, hardwood floors, new kitchen, older windows, older hot water heater and air conditioner, is freshly painted, and kind of small.

Then we found a bigger one that needs all new appliances, cabinetry, has good windows, new hot water heater, washer and dryer and condo fees are little less, and is a bit cheaper.

I think we're leaning towards the cheaper one, that way we can redo the kitchen and everything. I think my husband loves the thought of tearing out a kitchen and putting a new one in. I am kind of excited about that too. At first I couldn't see past the dated kitchen but then he was like: "Oh we can go to home depot!" and his eyes lit up  I saw his point.

I guess it would be fun to start from nothing and end up with something... I can see the reward in that.

Donne moi une poptart!

i got the car... now we are just stuck making payments for awhile :P but I have a car again!! YAY!!!!

Congrats!

When I was shopping for a car last year, before I settled on my Malibu I was looking at Nissan Altimas too. They've always had a very good track record. Glad you've got a car again! You certainly need one in SoCal!

So my parents-in-law drove down from Buffalo to my wife and I's new apartment last night, and today they've been quite busy... My MIL and wife drove over to Value City Furniture and bought a dinette set, then drove down to Ikea and bought an Expedit bookcase / TV stand, a Lask coffee table, two night-tables and a long wall shelf. Meanwhile, my FIL was setting up the new TV I bought last week. When the ladies got back from shopping, my FIL proceeded to put together the aforementioned furniture, while my MIL and wife went up to her old apartment and shampooed the carpet and did a thorough clean of the bathroom (so that she can get her security deposit back at the end of the month).

I have to admit, I feel rather guilty that I can't be down there helping them do all of this right now. However, it IS going to be nice to move into an apartment that has ample space for all of my stuff. :)

I've got awesome in-laws.

Hey that's pretty exciting isn't it!

There is something to be said for doing it yourself - I think everyone should at least once, it can be fun, also very tiring and expensive

So, are you putting in an offer??

Cool news about the house Sprailenes! Doing your own kitchen would be great- you can get exactly what you want. It will take some work and money and whole lot of patience but I can imagine that it would be really rewarding in the end. The house we are buying had the kitchen redone recently... which is great, but if it was my choice I definitely would have done things a little differently.
